Solve this problem we seem to be having of gravitating towards an item grind game like wow.

ever since AOS, items have become so important that we farm forever for them, which is not what uo is supposed to be about.

some ways to make this problem go away are

take away insurance (people wont spend hours or millions on an item they can lose in seconds)

make crafted items closer in quality to high quality magic items, and artifacts (arties should still be the best, but the gap is too big IMO)

IMBUING!

i hope they dont skrew it up but it seems imbuing, will make it way easier to obtain a decent item, and imbuing with crafting will allow for the enhancing of such items,
thus lowering an all 60+ suit with mods from 562497659427659245 gold to easy to obtain in a week or so, and easy to replace

hopefully it wont be overpowered, but i hope it will close the gap a little between rare items and crafter items, so that we are not required to grind to compete (dreads uo turning into wow)

btw i play on siege, and this problem is not nearly as bad there, because of the lack of insuance... though faction arties seem to be a problem IMO

Unless they remove powder of fortification from the game, no change they make to the item system will be able to remove the "WoW" item grind aspect of UO, which has been around since AoS.

Well thing is imbuing is meant to be a low budget alternative to make good suits ,but aparently the new SA artifacts will still be superior,or so it says on their own website...So I smell another mindless and pointless grind but prove me wrong and il be happier than you :s

honestly insurance needs to go too

part of the reason people spend hours farming for one item, is because the item is seen as another tier in your power even without powder of fort, a 255 durability artifact should last you a long time

i think if people know there is a risk of losing the item the first time they use it, they will not spend so much time farming such items

these items will then be rare, and worth something, and when you see someone with a hat of the magi, you wont think, "another mage with an uber hat.." youll think, "wow cool you have a hat of the magi" *reaches for sword*

If you don't want to grind then don't ... if you feel you have no choice but to have the best items in the game then that is the problem, not that the items exist.
