One banana source is the Innkeeper in Papua - 2 gold each. Wooden bowls for the fruit bowl recipe are initially sold as a "bowl of corn", "bowl of carrots", "bowl of lettuce" or "bowl of peas", by Cooks, Tavernkeepers, Waiters and Innkeepers. You eat the contents and are left with the wooden bowl to craft with. I did notice that at least the Papua Innkeeper sells these veggie items in *both* wooden and pewter bowls - make sure you buy the items in the brown bowls.
