I have always hated any new client....

..and decided to try the SA beta client. I don't know how long this has been available but I just d/l it a couple of days ago.

I am actually pretty impressed with it so far. As always with anything new there's some things to get used to but not a big deal.

Dev's, you guys have really done a great job on it. I don't think I've said "good job" on a change in UO since during UO:R.

Sorry if this is old news to everyone. Like I said, I just really started logging back in 2 days ago and found it.

I have to agree.

I was no fan of KR but I think the new SA client has real potential. Once they get the targeting and keyboard issues ironed out I will definitely try to make the change from 2D.

The reason I returned to UO was because I heard there was a new client.
Back in the days I always played the 2d client... never liked the 3d or KR clkients.

But I must also say that Iam pretty impressed with this SA client.
It runs great and I dont seem to have many issues with it.
On my laptop its a bit slower than on my PC, but surely playable.

I like that I can switch on/off legacy containers, but I must admit that after 3 years in WoW i actually like the "Grid" inventory better than the old messy backpack.

I also think that adding UOAM to the client is a great idea (I dont know if all functions of UOAM is int, but the map part is working great)

So if you havent tried it, you should defo give it a try sooner than later :)

Ditto.

After giving it a good go for a week or two, I would say that it is working well.

Much more stable than KR and a client with a future, it seems.

I agree the SA client is a good client. The only thing I dont like is the fact that once I get the zoom set to where its not too far away and not too close, when I log out and back in I have to find the spot again due to it not remembering/saving the setting. Plus other minor bugs, but once those are worked out I also will try to make the change.

Yeah there are some minor glitches and bugs but I guess that's why it's still in beta stage to let us find those little quirks so they can fix them?

A few things, right off hand, that I can think of I'd like to see changed are:

-I love the ability to use Legacy containers, however the ability to use higher resolution graphic settings (which is also awesome) causes these containers to get fairly small. I'd like to see the ability to resize them (scale them manually if we wanted) to better see and use what's in the containers. However, being able to go from blocked to legacy at will is one of my favorite aspects.

-The cursor seems to me to be tiny. I think it'd be pretty cool to have the ability to adjust the size to personal preference. Maybe a slider in the settings menu to allow us to adjust the size of the cursor? Even a numbered size modifier in the settings would work but I kind of like the slider bar idea :)

I know there's only two things listed there but I haven't had the chance to play a lot with it at this point. I will probably start a list of what I'd like to see changed/adjusted/fixed and put them all down. Is there a proper place for this list to go? I can post it on UHall but I don't want people to get irritated that it's here. Also, I'll probably start a list of what I like about it just for fun. I've always ripped the Dev team for changes in the past so I'd like to actually praise them on the things I like this time around. I see some really good and neat things with this client.

i hated every new client myself too, third dawn and KR but i decided to give SA client a shot and its actually not bad at all, has a lot of 2d in it plus some of the better looking 3d aspect, not too shabby

When I started playing UO, I used the 3d client and I liked it. It wasn't until I played a little on an Asian shard and was having terrible lag issues did I start using the 2d client because it seemed to help some with the lag issue. It took a while to get used to the different visuals, but now I like playing in 2d. I'm willing to give the SA client a try, eventhough I know it will take a while to get used to all the changes.

I agree...I've only logged onto SA once and consider myself a hide-bound 2D traditionalist, but I must say that after 5 minutes I thought "Wow--this doesn't suck as bad as all the other 3D attempts."
