I have a deco problem may be you can help

I don't know when this happened but I discovered it myself about a month ago. One of the housing deco-the short white marble pedestals, while in the past I can put items over the tile where these pedestals stood i can't do that anymore. No matter what I do any item i try to put there refuses to go above or below that same tile and it bounces to the tile adjacent to it.

If anyone else has similar problems may be you can post here as well and may be someone may know a way around it. I've tried crates, gozas, etc... nothing will stack above one of these marble pedestals from the housing tool.

You didn't mention this in your original post; but have you tried placing the object first, raising as high as it can go, then going into the custom housing menu to place the pedestal? I'm fairly certain that in the past I could do this with the bar pieces you could select in the custom tile menus, but I'm unsure if it ever worked for the pedestals because I would always do it the way you mentioned. Good luck...

I would try that except I don't wont to go into custom mode because I have basically completed the entire musuem already that has over 1,000 goza pieces in it. I am afraid if I go to custom mode I would have to redo all the goza mats and all the random pieces that gets tossed into crates.

It's not the problem with house deco tool, the problem is I can't even put the item on the same tile as the pedestal to begin with.

Seems EA changed the rules on those lockdowns. For years i used the tiles with stairrailing for lockdowns. Those tiles you couldn't step on but lockdowns where okay.

Today i wanted to redecorate a corner tower, removed the old items and now can't put new items into the spots that previously had items.

When i put items down they bouce back into my pack. I tried all different kinds of items & containers. I can still drop items on the chests which are displayed in the upper picture. Just no new items on the empty tiles.

Kas, Try putting a goza mat on the spot - raising it above the level of the railing and then placing the chest on the goza. Chop the goza and lower the chest into place. I think that will work.

i've noticed a difference too. i used to be able to place items like rubble tile pieces on low E or S facing walls and use the deco tool to lower them to the floor so they'd appear tucked up against the wall. now i can't. the item just bounces back into my pack.

i was able to get them back down using the goza trick (place goza, raise up couple times, place item on goza, axe goza, lower item to floor) but that never used to be necessary. i know you said you can't even get that to work. have you tried posting in the homes and castles forum? they might have a fix.

Thanks for that. The goza mat did the job. Since i never had to use goza mats for any of my decorations before i thought it was somehow related. I think it was 4 times that i had to raise the mats before i could drop items onto it. Thanks for the trick.

The items just used to fly above the railing and i could lower them with the deco tool.

Aye I've used Goza's and I've used crates and axed them. It's a pain I know and half the time things in my castle on the SW corner tell me I can't place an item at the entrance....

Over the years in deco'ing my homes I have not had much trouble placing items till SA.

I went to redeco a castle and found goza mats (double square) wont go in places I had previously placed in that same spot. Eventualy I had to resort to single goza mats to fill the spots. Very costly in fabric if you look at it and a pain in the tush.

The rail trouble poped up but again the goza (single)worked to a point on most items I wished to place.

Recient troubles have been placing as with the goza, add-on's! Try as you might all 2 square add-on's will not go down in places they did prior. You get the message: You may not place this item its too close to stairs or door. But your no where near the bloody door or stairs!!!

Now as the OP has stated the pedistals wont let you place items on them. (house posts on the construction menu) I have 1 18x18 on Oceania that I built the first 18 with these posts for placing my reward statues on the top floor. They worked fine and I was able ot change the statues when needed to change theme's for hollidays. Now I went to place new ones up and got the very same thing the OP did. It simply wont go, and I have tried everything, you name the item, goza, tool all of it. including going into deco mode on the house menu. The item is every time placed in the moving crate when you opt for the pillar.

There are many other troubles in deco'ing but this is not my post. I understand your delema and wish a solution was easy to give. Perhaps a rubble pillar of simular size could be used. I use them on my museum castle for display where the new cabinets wont fit or look right.

Same bug with the bar, you can't place anything on the bar anymore. I hope it gets fixed.
