I took 4 years off, and just came back. I took my pup down to kill swoops first thing. The cu was killed in less than a minute with me bandaging him with 100+ vet and me peacing with 120 peace. I dont remember hardly bandaging in the past what is wrong? Thanks for any help, and by the way I'm on lake Austin.

Hmm. Where you mage healing, as well? Do you have disco soulstoned? Disco would be more helpful than peace.

Meanwhile, I heard a rumor recently that miasma's toughness has recently been enhanced. Perhaps the same is true of Swoop.

The soulstone fragments can only be used five times. Single-use soulstone fragments can also be crafted now, so you might be able to find one of these on a vendor.

I think that a disco/mage/tamer would have a better chance than a peacer/mage/tamer, but either way it is surprising that your cu is having so much trouble. I'm still wondering if there was a monster buff lately.

Swoop was buffed up in late 2007, but not changed since that I know of. Cu's don't do as well against Swoop as they did before that buff. Not a very good matchup - cu doesn't damage Swoop very well (cu does cold and energy damage, and Swoop has great cold resist and good energy resist). Swoop does physical damage, to which cu's resist is decent but not great.

Like Kit said, the buff happened nearly 4 years ago, likely right after you left.

But yes, it was buffed up.

What are the best pets now against the swoop? I don't have a greater dragon yet I'm still working on taming a good one. I have a white w and most everything that has been out for a while.any suggestions?

Greater dragon is easiest, but not the only way.

Swoop's average energy and poison resistances are lowest, followed by its fire resistance. Rune beetles' melee attack deals 70% energy damage and 10% poison damage. You can pair a rune beetle with other pets, such as a nightmare or bake kitsune. A nightmare is probably best, as its melee attack deals 40% fire damage and 20% energy damage.

Let your rune beetle tank. You'll need to keep swoop disco'd and constantly bandage/greater heal your rune beetle. It's not a cakewalk, especially if you're just coming back to the game, but you'll kill swoop faster with a rune/mare combo than a cu.

P.S. Use pets that are fully trained.

I can tell you that a Disco'd Swoop (I am 120/120 using GM made (no bird slayer Talisman))..will go down fast with anything. I kill them with Cu's non-stop, but they are5X Gm....I don't even have Vet, just Magery.

In regards to the best combo and fastest Death, I wold rate them as follows:

#1) Bane Dragon/Nightmare (only if Poison Breath is fully charged)
#2) Rune Beattle/Nightmare (if not fully charged Poison Breath above)
#3) Dread Mare/Nightmare
#4) Greater Dragon
#5) Cu
#6) Hiyru (Greater)
#7) Two Firesteeds (don't attack until disco'd, send in 1 at a time so you know who to heal)

I really haven'y tried any other combos..
