I recalled into the Papua Smith to collect a BOD. First, there was a demon standing on top of me. OK, I can handle that - there's a room right beside me that I can dodge into. I close the door, the demon's stuck on the other side, and I can Recall out, right?

There was a Dark Wisp in the room. I died before I could say, "Aw...SHXX!" So I wandered around town as a ghost for awhile, counting up all the high-end/uberpowered monsters milling about with nothing to do but harass honest, hardworking blacksmiths.

Is this some new definition of the word, "fun" I haven't heard of? When are the Devs going to figure out that throwing hordes of ubermonsters into towns randomly isn't going to convince any former players to come back? If I wanted to be PK'd I'd wander around Felucca. Strangely enough, I don't. Even stranger, no one else does, either.

I'll be over on D&D Online. Call me when the Devs get over their little fit of madness.

:lame:

Well, all I can say to that mate is tough. Its been pretty much broadcast around that there is an invasion coming and its common knowledge that Deluca and Papua are going to be invaded too.

If a monster kills me.. Oh well, it happens. Dont complain about the game when its doing what it supposed to be. And like alot of other people, I think its events like this that will bring players back into the game. Its fun, and if I'm going to recall into a town that is widely known to be invaded... Then I make sure I'm attentive and react without dying... But if I did die *shrugs* Hey its a game, its all part of the fun.

I' wouldnt complain about it, becuase we dont get enough events as it is.

Stay over at D&D Online mate, we'll be happier for it without having to read someone winge about an event that everyone knows about...

Sheesh, anyone want to actually play UO?

Heh. I mentioned the Demon and the Dark Wisp inside the smithery. I didn't mention the nightmares, dark spirits, and assorted other red- named monsters clogging the streets outside. I also didn't mention the well-organized, fearless defenders of the Realm battling the forces of evil - but only because there warn't none of them. I've fought in most of the town invasions over the years. With my best PvM hunter I'd sit this one out. They went to the far side of "ridiculous" and kept going this time.

The first post sounded a little like "woe is me, I got killed during an invasion" sorta whiny gripe. And I almost dismissed it. Then your last post sounded a little more rational. And I started to agree, sorta.

The first reply was right,. it has been advertised everywhere that this thing is going on. There are plenty of towns not affected with high level killing machines where you can easily and safely pick up a smith BOD. However...

I strongly agree with the fact that this invasion just isnt pulling the kind of miraculous numbers EA are hoping for. On Oceania especially. You can go to Cove and along with the outrageous number of everyday NPCs theres this massive block of red up in the back corner. And not a single player around. And this is happening in almost all of the affected towns. Lots of critters, few to very little players willing to clean them up.

For what its worth, try not to end a post stating youll be in another game. Its just flame bait for tools to harass you about not coming back, better of without you, etc etc.

Yes, I think a point could be made that maybe it's time for something a bit different then a town invasion. How many events now have revolved around the invasion one or more towns? I mean, old timers like myself still look fondly back on the invasion of Trinsic, but that was a long long time ago.

Perhaps the monsters could chose some other form of evil and misbehavior. I don't know. Maybe the invasion of the invisible shoe lace untie'ers that causes characters to trip constantly.

It's certainly to the point where we need an acronym: Spawn Monsters In Town Event or 'SMITE'. Seems appropriate, no?

Yeah, the monsters at these invasions are a little too strong considering the fact that the population is so low. If there were tons of people running around fighting them, great. I see one guy, maybe, with a dragon, farming, and noone else fighting. Kind of hard to take on a lot of these monsters solo.

I know I have been avoiding the invasion event somewhat because of its lack of realism, especially spawn getting stuck under floors. Not everyone plays UO in groups and this event makes it difficult to run around solo. I think it would be more realistic if there were npc guards helping out anyone who needed it, as if they were fighting along side, not just popping in when someone screams "guards" and making the spawn go poof. And what's up with the npc townsfolk sticking around in an invaded town? If this was rl, there would indeed be several holdouts hidden around in buildings and volunteers healing the wounded.

I'm with you dude , for me EVENTS aint about spawning some uber mobs and force peopel into grinding them to collect some shid . For me an event is making peopel work together or against each other to achive a goal , not to collect **** , and I want some freaking EM's or GM's or Seers to participate , to help the story along and actualy make it fun , not just another grind that makes me wanna hit my head against the wall until I bleed from my toes......

whats new anyway like 6 or 7 years ago I reclled toa bank in I think minoc and got killed by lichlords and poison eles? same events differnt year, if I remeber its alwaise like that during most events. Exept now after 10 years I dont have to run I got good at PVM since the PVP left the game.

My best pvmers do fine with this event, now if I lived in a time warp and never updated my gear or skills I could not do it.
