I am new to taming and have alot of questions.. I have basicly always used a Archer or a dexxer.. I am looking for a good PvM template to use to farm gold and farm for imbue ingrediants..

I was thinking of something like this for my template
120--Taming
120--Lore
120--Vet
120--Magery
120--Eval Int
120--Med

Basicly have my pet tank while I heal with vet & dump mana into the creature to take it down...
How affective would this be against the higher level monsters??

What are the best pet/combo of pets to use for tanking the higher end monsters??

What monsters can said pets be able to take down without that much trouble??

What are some good monsters for a tamer to fight for farming gold?

What would an uber suit be for this build?? I have most of the higher end arties, if I am missing any I could prob easily get them.. If you can include what arties are used to build the suit it would be great..

I may have some more questions later on.. But this is all I can think of right now...

Thank you in advance for helping me out

The mage tamer is one of the oldest taming templates in the game. I have two of them. They are still super effective, and can be used pretty much anywhere in game.

For tanking, nothing beats a greater dragon, just be sure to get a good one. I place MUCH greater emphasis on resists and strength in a gdrag, along with high wrestle, than I do on hit points. With proper vetting/mage heals, you can take down most any boss in the game except the stygian dragon and slasher of the veil. Those two simply destroy pets. You'll also want a good rune beetle, mare, bake kitsune, and cu sidhe. I'm playing around with bane dragons and enjoying them as well. You might like to try a hiryu as well.

As far as money making, I prefer succubus. Get yourself a good cu sidhe, a demon slayer spellbook, and they go down faster than Lindsay Lohan on a fat one. Fast respawn and also a good way to work your honor.

An uber suit would be 2/6 fc/fcr, 40 lmc, 20+ mana regen, as much mana increase as you can get, hit point increase/regen.....pretty much however you want to do it. The first three are the most important, especially if you plan to mana dump on a mob.

With all that said, other viable template include spellweaving and mystic instead of some of your other skills. I'm currently having a ton of fun playing with this template:

120 Taming
120 Lore
120 Magery
120 Mysticism
120 Spellweaving
120 Focus

Just gotta be careful not to let your pet die lol.

I've had the classic tamer mage template for a long while now but have started to experiment a bit more.

I tried removing Eval and Med and adding various Bard skills. I found Disco to worth the best, the GD didn't really struggle with anything. Provo was nice due to my pet not being hit at all. Peace had its uses but it wasn't really for me.

I created a new Garg char and have made a Thrower Tamer.

This is my Temp

Taming 120
Lore 120
Vet 100
Chiv 70
Throwing 120
Tactics 120
Bushido 70

Pro's - Insane dmg output, can fly whilst having a G.Drag, even if pet dies in a boss encounter for example, you can still keep hitting. Able to res pet yourself still.

Con's - Only Chiv heals and confidence to keep yourself alive. Have to carry invis pots, have to use vet to heal pet (no g.heal) Can't mount pets to make them easier to follow you.

I have to say, personally the pros far outweigh the cons in my book and I love this char!

Do you find Mana an issue? I didn't find Focus to be as effective as med in that respect and found SW to be a huge mana hog.

Is mana an "issue", no. Does it need to be managed...yes. I have 21MR on my suit, and I run as an elf. I'm still debating whether to give up +20 mana for the 2MR with JOAT. I can't mana dump like I am accustomed to on my mage tamers, but in reality, going from 120 Med to 120 Focus I lost 6MR. It's not at all insurmountable, I just try to think through what I'm doing a little more. Arcane empowerment gives me much better heals, and I always run with a level 6 focus. I'm still learning when to dump and when to heal, but the template itself is killer. I take stuff down way faster than my mage tamers, BUT, I REALLY have to pay attention to the pet. There are no pet rezzes with this template lol.

I want to post you my template for PvM. I love the template and will try to post the reasons why.

120 taming
120 lore
120 vet
115 magery (would someday buy 120 when i can afford it as just getting back into the game)
120 med
120 SW

I moved off Eval IQ as it doesn't do much for me on my template. It doesn't affect the main spell I am using which is Greater Heal or Cure Poison or Invis. My pet is doing the killing. With Spell Weaving your Greater Heals are healing for a ton more hps when you have to heal from a distance. Between SW, much stronger Greater Heals, and Strong Vet, it is tough for anything to take down your pet. For long battles with say Lady Mel. Your Arcane Power Greater Heals are going to keep your pet up much easier and keep your mana pool at a much higher level to be able to hit those wonderful Word of Deaths.

Eval just wasn't worth it for me. Focus wasn't necessary either as it doesn't keep the mana pool up as much as Meditation does.

Just my 2 cents. Mysticism doesn't make much sense to me on a Tamer. the best spell they have is summoning an RC which you can't do on a Tamer since you have pets out anyway. They can't invis and their healing isn't as easy to do as magery. SW plus magery to me seems the way to go.
