Hunting creatures to obtain scrolls...

So if one had restarted UO recently, with a fresh and shiny trial account, and had the idea that it would be neat to obtain all spells of 5th circle or higher through hunting rather than merely purchasing a full spellbook, where would you suggest that low skill character start hunting?

If I remember correctly, elementals can drop up to 7th circle scrolls, but I can't for the life of me recall what drops 8th circle scrolls. Balrons? That might take some time to kill with lightning bolts. Zap! Zap!

Could anyone recommend any particular creatures or areas for someone in very much substandard equipment to start out with, or is it just suicide to chase spellcasters without good resists?

I know my brother used to hunt meer eternals for vampiric embrace scrolls, and im pretty sure they had level 8 scrolls too.
They start out unaggressive, so you can get a head start.

I had some good luck last night fighting air elementals in Shame. I found for some reason they were not as free with their offensive magic as I recalled, and tended to simply heal themselves. So, my collection of scrolls up to circle 7 should be completed tonight, then I will start training to higher skill to tackle tougher creatures.

A quick guide:

Level 1-3 spells: Orc Mages, Imps, Rat Mages
Level 4-7 spells: Liches, Daemons
Level 1-7 spells: Air elementals (can have a blank scroll instead of the level 1-3)
Level 8 spells: Meer Eternal (1 stack of multiple scrolls; gives major karma hit and meer are aggro to negatives), static chests (empty until picked and untrapped the first time), Dark Father (Doom boss - has multiple stacks of multiple scrolls), Event creatures, and possibly some others (not up 100% on what many of the new major boss monsters carry).

I have almost filled my book up to level 7 scrolls now on air elementals in Shame, though I found them a lot more fun to fight once I lost my young tag at 450 skill points and they started using offensive magic on me.

If I had known that was the reason they weren't hurting me, I would have locked focus and all my none essential skills and gone directly to balrons and the like. =)
