Human to Gargoyle Question

I'm considering using a race change token to turn one of my human characters into a Gargoyle. He already has 15k loyalty points to the Gargoyle Queen. Would he retain those loyalty points if I change his race? Or would he lose them and have to start over (which is what I want to avoid).

I can't see why he'd lose them. Still the same character.
