[Gardening] How To Use Planters?

Does anyone know how to use the 13th Anniversary Gift Ticket planters? It seems that you can't actually plant anything in them. The only thing I have been able to do is use the House Decorator tool to make a plant appear to be growing from the planter.

I think that's all they are -- deco. But they are nice!

That's sad. Oh, well. I'll just keep using the deco tool cause the plants really do look nice growing from them.
