In the book, there is a column on the right side of the page where you set the prices. They can only be set when the book is in your pack, not while sitting on the vendor (as that area acts as the BUY area when on a vendor, and even the owner can buy when it's on a vendor). Each price has to be set one at a time, which is a pain, though you can
- click gem for a price
- hit CTRL-Q to get last text typed
- Hit Enter
over and over to not have to type the same number again and again (in 500 BODs, that can save 1500 or more keystrokes)
When you put the book on the vendor, do not set a price on the book itself, as setting a book price clears all the individual prices in the book, IIRC.
Type a description (if any - I use the book name as description) and hit enter.
P.S. BODs can be a great way to collect money for guild dues or collective fund, if you have to make such transfers on a regular basis.
1. Get a bunch of junk BODs that no one would want, price them at amounts that are that you usually need to move.
-If you need to keep track of who is paying dues, set up a different book for each person, with each BOD priced at their dues level (for example, if someone has 4 characters in the group, and dues are per character, you can set up one book for them at prices 4x the character rate, so their wealthiest character can pay all 4 in one trip). This also allows people to pay dues for others, if they are generous.
-If for non-mandatory donations, set prices at common donation amounts (and a few really big ones)
2. Check the vendor for payments on a regular basis. If for dues, if all books start with the same number of BODs, then you can tell who is behind (or paying in advance) by the BOD count.
3. This is also an easy way to transfer large sums between accounts without risking vendor fees being applied, or to set up regular transfers (say, if your Sampire is the one bringing in most of your gold, and your crafter on the same or a different account regularly needs millions to buy raw materials), with the recipient running the vendor. If on the same account, the sender can price the BOD, put the book on the vendor, BUY IT to put the money on the vendor, then put the BOD back where it belongs. Silly, but it can be useful until they allow us to share gold directly between characters.
4. With a Rental vendor placed nearby, it's also a way to do large transactions (such as a house or extremely rare item) in gold, as the buyer can buy the proxy BODs with multiple characters if need be, and it doesn't have the dangers of transferring pets or plots loaded with checks.
