How to not suck at pvm

I'm having trouble staying alive in pvm. Mostly im having trouble dealing with caster mobs and getting ganked by groups of mobs that aggro me. Any tips?

Presuming a pure mage:

Use orange petals so you you don't always have to cure before you cast heal. If you are getting interrupted a lot in PvM cast protection, keep in mind the -FC penalty, -35 to resist spells and -14 or -15 to physical resist. Use pots even if you don't have EP.

A lot of it has to do with the suit. Are you at least 70 physical resist and at least 60 in the others? Do you have 40 LMC and enough MR? Do you have 45 DCI? Do you have adequate SDI and/or slayer spellbooks?

How does one put together a cheap suit with good resists, 100 LRC, good MR and some DCI? It seems you have to spend quite some time using a weak suit in order to afford a good suit. =/

With imbuing, it takes a little planning, but you can make an all 70s suit with decent MR for not too bad of a cost. But, like everything else, you need to start with what (if any) artifacts you are going to be using.
