How to know where to go

How can a person know where to go to get certain items. Like with leatherworking...how do I know where to get the certain types of leather. Also would appreciate some information on how to know where to go to get certain cloth. Thanks alot.

The easiest rule of thumb is to think about it this way...

With both leather and linen, the harder the monster is to kill before you can harvest the leather/linen, the higher the quality of said item will be.

Example...a simple gnoll in Redridge of about 18th level will normally drop wool. The deviates in Westfall all or most would drop linen.

For leather, the light leather would drop off monsters up to about 15th? level or so, then once you enter Darkshire, you'll start to see more medium leather.

So to get runecloth you need to be killing foes around 50th+ in level. Same for thick leather.

But as far as an exact chart of what drops what, I cannot think of a good link atm but I'll think about that.

Of course, linen, wool, etc. only drops on humanoids, and leathers only from skinnable foes. But I am pretty sure you knew that already.

Thick Hide: 40-59

I have observed that humanoid NPCs are pretty certain to drop cloth. This includes the much less human types - the piggy tribes such as razormanes, bristlebacks, etc., the centaurs, and the various types of fish folk, in addition to all the offshoots of the playable races that appear as NPCs you can kill. As was mentioned before, the higher the level the mob, the higher the level the cloth it will drop.

P.S. as far as I know, you will only find netherweave cloth in the Outlands
