How to know if Ban is permanent?

Heya,

We have an account which couple of us use together. Account has protector char, some crafters etc. skills that just doesn't fit to our own accounts char slots. Now it seems one of it's users got it banned... Prolly for a reason so no complaining there.

What I would like to know is how to know if the account is permabanned or not? The one who's e-mail address is on acc has gotten no mail. Friends etc. can still access the house, so someone said then it's 72h ban. If it was permabanned the access list would be cleared. Is this true?

Or do we just have to wait and see?

To get a perma ban the account would have to have 2 marks on it before this one.
Only way to get a perma ban with no marks is if you say the racist N word, or the R word that sounds like grape . Not sure if there is any others ones that get you ban like that.

I hope there a ways to get a perma bann, or at eleast I would see ppl perma banned when cought doing several things like ...
- duping
- scripting
- using third-party tools for ghost-camming
etc

Right now I dont know about account sharing policy from EA but it is prohibited at other games. That alone could be a reason for a ban (perma or not is another point).

With 'ssome crafters' shared on that account, I would be suspicious about bod- and heartwood scripting. Imho I would never give any of my passwords to someone who is cheating (especially on an account, that is not his own.)

When you try and log into the account in game do you get the message telling you that the account has been suspended? Or the message that you have the wrong username/pass? If it is the latter then the account hasn't been banned, but 'stolen' (password changed). If it is an account that multiple people have access to, this is quite possible.

Status:

Never been banned so don't know the message for that but a paid for account will say:

Status: Active

Non-Paid for account (pay every 90 days house holder account for example) says:

Status: Suspended
Suspension Date: August 21, 2009
Suspension Reason: Coupon Queue Empty

Although if they've not had time to send the email explaining what the issue is they maybe haven't had time to update account management either?

Scripters at least have to be caught more than once to get a perma ban.

I know I paged on this tailor bod scripter numerous times for various events they were engaged in before I saw the newb chars that they used in their operation finally vanish from the char search list on UO Herald (takes over 30 days since they show up for 30 days since their last log in).

12 newb chars (.1 tailoring/smith allows you to get a bod every hour) poofed so I know they didnt use name change tokens to change all those names.

Cheaters need banning and their monthly sub forfeited and since we all know they just get another account and start over 99.9% of the time isn't that a bit more money for UO?

Occasionally it must generate tiny bits of extra money for EA when a scripter pays for a 2nd or 3rd account after being banned on their first.

Basically anything racist will do it. I know someone who got suspended for using the 'G' word (a derogatory term for a Chinese person) a few years ago. Really there is no excuse or reason to be using these words at all, let alone in UO.

longest term for me to get a scripter banned was almost 6 month,but in the end his houses went IDOC by by of 9years UO

I wouldnt risk on my own account. I have too many fully trained, scrolled and armored chars on too many shards. Also too much gold and expensive items to get a ban for something as cheap as heartwoodkits/vallyhammer compared to my accs worth

Actually a GM can ban all your accounts tied to the same credit card info if they want to, I know someone this happened to, and this was due to unattended macroing 3rd mark on one account perma ban, got his other accounts perma banned to.

I'm glad that this acc isnt on my credit card then. Like I said, not my acc.

Thou I buy gametimecodes... Last time I checked EA:s $-->€ is 1=1 if you put ur credit card info to ur acc, which is FAR from the real exchange rate... So It's a lot cheaper to buy gametime from uogamecodes for us europeans...

Yes they will perma ban you for any racist word if someone reports you built - in profanity filter or not. even if you dont even have one single mark on your account. and I know this because my friends son who I went & bought the game for him for his 14th birthday got perma banned for saying the N word and he only played the game for 2 weeks.

It was StinkyChinky (he is Chinese in real life)

In those 2 weeks not sure, but the area he lives in on his street he hears it alot. Like DVDA says african americans can freely use it.
I did tell him to watch what he says, not to swear, and to walkway if anyone harassed him, so much for listening, but I think him hearing it so much from the kids on his street he didn't think and said it in the game.

I taught mine that its a free country in america, including freedom of speech.
I taught mine that I spent many a year in the military to "defend" that freedom.
I taught mine that they should expect to be treated as they treat others.
I taught mine that its their "choice" to say, do, etc, but to expect it to be the same way "done" towards them, especially as far as actions or words go.

Although I keep it clean ingame, I will never submit to the over-politically correct,holier than thou softies that make the headlines everyday.Just because thier feelings got hurt because someone said a bad word or something derogatory. As long as MTV perpetuates reverse racism along with every damn radio station and rapper out there....I`ll stay the same. I hate to see this thread slide to this topic but its something that really burns me up. The words that are taboo to the majority seem to be the catch phrase of some of today musicans...if you can call them that. Its a double standard that is more than rediculous. Well that is certainly a good reason to watch your language in UO, specifically the forbidden use of racial/ethnic slurs N and J words, to protect your UO account from being banned.

I think most people understand that the R word isn't allowed in UO because it is a real life crime. What most people don't understand is that racial slurs/intolerance of others is also a real life crime, a crime against humanity.


Please do keep in mind that had Hilter been successful in exterminating the Jews during WWII that he would have then certainly turned his attention to other peoples that he considered 'imperfect', maybe people:

who wear glasses,

are overweight,

are handicapped,

are old,

are too short,

or too tall,

to skinny,

have freckles,

or moles,

who hate math,

or reading,

etc.,

and eventually yes,

even WOMEN,

since Hitler was a man and men tend to consider women inferior,

Kudos to whoever it was at Origin or EA or to Richard Garriott for not allowing racial/ethnic slurs to be used within UO.

The effects of that one decision for UO, of disallowing racial/ethnic slurs, has no doubt impressed on a many a 14 year old who is playing UO that intolerance is UNACCEPTABLE within the game.

That one decision for UO could well prevent another Hilter from coming into power and prevent the deaths of millions or even the end of humanity altogether by impressing on that same 14 year old that intolerance is also UNACCEPTABLE OUTSIDE the game. At least that is what we should all hope for.


And that madams and sirs, is no small thing.

Account was 48h banned, and reason was heartwood quest macroing... Now we have an agreement that noone will use this acc for macroing. He'll prolly continue on his own accs but atleast my items/trained skills on this acc should be safe.
