Something that I thought about earlier today, see if you are on any type of a quest, check your context menu, and your quest menu. that might be what is stopping you.

Characters that show different ages at the start of the same account's "birthday" may update throughout the month based on the individual character's last login time and date. The characters should be updated within seven days of their first login after the accounts "birthday".
The reason for this is that the server caches an individual character's age and only checks for new information every seven days. This is necessary because of the sheer amount of characters that have been (and will continue to be) created in Ultima Online.
The important part to remember is that your account age is not tied to when the account was opened, but to how much active time has been paid to the account. Thank you again and take care.
