My search to tame a almost maxed out greater dragon is going very slow.

I have been taming them for weeks and still no keepers.

My first dragon was a gift, so no time.

My second took about two weeks, an hour a day of just looking at dragons then moving to the next spawn. It's by no means a perfect dragon, as it only has 115 wrestling, but it has very high resist spells and elemental resists, which made it just the dragon I was looking for.

The more variables the harder it is to find perfection.

When you consider the Grt has I think 5 skills that can be over 100.... perfection can be a long time coming.

It took some time really. I'd find an acceptable one and train it accordingly. If I came across something better, I tamed it, bonded it, then trained. Only then did I give it away (the 1st 2 or 3 at least to friends) or sell/trade (the last 2). All in a span of about 6 months. Now, I have the one I want and my friends have pretty decent ones too. I still run through Destard and Valor occasionally and lore the spawn just to see what's out there, but I doubt I'll find something better that suits my PvM style of play. If I do, a friend gets an upgrade or I get a little more gold to spend on stat scrolls. It's all about timing (ok, luck) and patience.

I'm still on the hunt for the best I can do without going crazy - I'd like at least 83 phys/88 fire resist 120+ wrestle and tactics, 900hp+ and 600 str+. I can wind farm 50 dragons in a session (I get bored fast) and might see a few with good resists but horrible wrestle, or 143 wrestle but 65 phys, etc.

It's tough, a real mix of time and luck. The faster you can cycle thru and get new dragons the better your chances are. I have three pretty good ones, I'm not sure which one I'll keep till I get my final upgrade (ignore the bottom one):

I'm having a hard time figuring out which one I want to keep. They all have different strengths and weaknesses, ugh. Decisions decisions!

I donno... I got lucky with my first 2, and since then I have been able to find decent 4.2 stars.

Skills aren't as important imho. First its a glance at HP, and then see if the resists will support said hp.

Tactics, seems like a waste to me after the nerf to GD's. Your GD will most likely max out on damage with high str and 100-110 tactics.

Wrestling and physical resist are the two I'd care about. If your GD's running out of HP enough for 50 extra to make a difference, you're probably in trouble anyway. Higher wrestling keeps it from getting hit, and resists make the hits that do land take less HP.

It took me around two weeks of hard farming to find my dragon, and in my opinion, I was extremely lucky.

Side note, but with those tasty treats or whatever they're called... Can't GDs be 100% immune to phys and fire?

Right, but those new quest reward treats give pets something like an extra 15% phys and 10% fire resist for 20 minutes.

Yes, the super-duper tasty treats (which I haven't earned yet, I'm still on tasty treats, so I got the name wrong) can get your dragon to 100 physical and fire resists for a while.

It would be the ideal thing for the end of a Rikktor spawn.

Hmmm, that's interesting, I didn't know about that. I could see those being very useful. I guess I should finish that quest... :)

Do you just keep doing the tasty treats quest to get them?

Also, corpse skin can bring an 85% phys resist dragon to 95.

I should post stat pics of mah dragons!

That is a good walkthrough of the tiered quest chain for the tasty treats quests.

The quest you're looking for is "armor up" from Zosilem, but you have to do a number of tasty treats quests from Thephem before the Zosilem quests open up to you, then you have to do a number of the "Dabbling on the Dark Side" quests before you can get to the "Armor Up" quest.

In regards to the "Forbidden Fruit" quest, to my knowledge, nobody knows where to get treefellow wood (They aren't on Treefellows or the champ-spawn Feral Treefellows.)
