I feel confident that 99% of the EM's are doing what they do because of the passion they have for UO. However there is that 1%. Maybe it is someone planning on leaving--or someone that only joined for the wrong reasons--or someone just upset. They can do so much damage.
They can give out special rewards to a friend of thiers at every event. We have seen these items sell for hundreds of millions in gold. And we all know what happens to gold after the sale. This is called corruption. It is bad for UO plain and simple.
I agree with many others that there should be special items from events, BUT they should be account bound. No trading no dropping for someone to pick up. Once another account touches the item--the item is destroyed.
You still get the competition to have the only one of a few of something--but you also remove a big factor in corruption--GREED.
In the past we have seen Seers, IGM's, GM's and EM's that were corrupt. Remember the GM back in 98 that would place castles for his friends to sell on EBAY for thousands of dollars? Or the IGM that placed items in player houses so they could sell for tons. Or the EM's that only seemed to give things to guildmates. Or the Seer's that got friends places blessed. All of these were corruption. Do you really want to see this again?
I think the no trade no drop method is one that makes everyone a winner, except the ones trying to make a living off of UO.
