How does one TURN OFF the HELP channel that auto connects when I log in? The constant chatter of those messages fills up my journal which makes it hard to read the immediate play messages from other players on screen. I have read http://support.ea.com/cgi-bin/ea.cf...p_accessibility=&p_page=&p_lva=10572&nextlink=

but can't find anything that says why I am reading messages on the screen when I don't belong to any Help Channel

In the 2D client, get into the Options off your paperdoll. One of the settings toggles the menubar on and off - you are probably toggled off. Turn the bar on.

Now open chat, click the Help channel and select the option to leave it. Do the same with any of the other channels, close the gump, toggle the menubar off, close Options, close paperdoll.

ADVISORY - Unless it was recently changed, these choices may well revert to "joined channel" upon the next login.

Thank you Beer Cayse

Re: Menubar on and off. All I can find on the 2D client is under interface in OPTIONS on paper doll .. namely "Disable the Menu Bar" <check it>
This box isn't checked. Whether or not I check that, the Help Channel is still spewing messages on the screen in bottom LH corner. I can 't find anything that is simply a menu bar on/off

Re: Now open chat, click the Help channel and select the option to leave it.
In Options, I find Chat, but nothing that says Help Channel that gives an option to leave it.

Sorry if I sound confused. I expect it is another thing that is easy once you learn how to do it and know what to look for.

ok to get out of a channel you need to press the chat on the menu bar

then select the channel you want to join/leave

then press whatever option you want to do

if you cant find your menu bar, look around your desktop it may be minimized and can be moved so look closely. it looks like this minimized

Hope this helps.

Re: How does one turn off the HELP channel that auto-connects to player logging into

:thumbup:THANK YOU both, False Prophet and Beer_Cayse!! You know what I've been missing? The MENU BAR! I didn't know where to look to find the Menu Bar. :wall:

Now I feel like an idiot :dunce: but I did expect the solution to be simple!! That menu bar you both are talking about shows up on my screen all the time when I log in .. but I click on that LH arrow to close it because it annoys me by covering all my spell icons at the top of my screen. ROFL.

I found the Menu bar with "Chat" on the menu finally because something clicked in what your pictures were showing me False Prophet. I knew the 'Chat' had to be somewhere on SOMETHING THAT I MISSED called a menu bar! I was always looking on the paper doll or on the TOOL BAR and in Options on the various menus ... and never thought about that slim long thing above as being a menu bar < Map Paperdoll inventory Journal Chat Help> !! I have played this game for twelve years and learned to do things the hard way. I didn't have any use for that new MENU BAR.

Thanks again. I'll work on it to solve the problems now. :thumbup1:

I've never shut that menu bar down. Didn't know how so did the next best thing: CLICK on the arrow LH END of the Menu Bar. That closes the bar leaving only the small arrow on the screen which can be moved if need be, and which can be clicked on again to bring back the menu.

THANK GOODNESS for this UO TECH SUPPORT and the PEOPLE IN HERE WHO PLAY THE GAME!! You have no idea how many other places I have gone to on a wild goose chase and the time I have spent trying to find an answer to this simple question. EA CUSTOMER SUPPORT ... ???? What a merry-go-round they sent me on and on and on and on ..... I think I better keep my eye on this forum better and try help where I can too.

What I can never understand is why is it always something that is so easily explained so hard to find a way to get that explanation from anyone in EA?

Again THANKS!
