At the risk of confusing everyone as to the intent of my question, I ask the following:
How does mob aggro work?
Scenario... I enter a room with 20 lizardmen when not in war mode. All 20 lizardmen swarm me, one tags as aggro, even though all 20 are attacking. My character responds in defense against the aggro till he dies. Then another of the remaining 19 goes aggro and my char responds. This continues till all 20 are dead.
The same scenario occurs if I am in war mode.
These scenarios are very handy when roaming the dungeons, as I don't have to double click on targets to begin my attack.
However lots of times, I cannot get the auto aggro by the mobs to start. They all attack me but my character will not respond without me having to double click one of them. When that mob is dead, I have to double click the next and so on till all are dead.
The two scenarios result in the same outcome, all mobs dead, but the second requires 40 doubleclicks to accomplish.
Now, I realize that if another mob in an adjacent room is aggro on me, that will keep the group around me from flagging. This is not the problem I am trying to convey. There are many times I am positive that no mob is aggro on me and I get surrounded by lots of mobs.. all of them pounding on me. In this mode the doubleclick target selection is required and continues.
I have found that if I enter a room and doubleclick right away, that will force me to doubleclick until all visible mobs are dead. In other words, If I am first to attack, the client seems to decide that I want control and will not auto aggro any mob on me. This is ok by me. However if I don't attack, whether in war mode or not, I would like to be able to expect the auto aggro to occur on a consistent basis.
So... How does this work?
