How Does Luck Work Now?

Can we get a clear, concise, and official explanation of how luck works as of this latest patch? It was pretty clear how luck affects the loot but not how a person's luck is selected.

Whose luck is chosen when you are in a party?

Is luck averaged when you are in a party?

Whose luck is chosen when you are not in a party and several people could have killed the target? Do you just need looting rights for your luck to be selected?

How long can the creature's top attackers list be? Does the number fluctuate with the number of attackers?

Is it correct that Luck is factored in on the killing blow and not by either the person who has done the most damage or the person who opens the corpse?

Thanks for any response that will help clarify this.

Couple of questions that aren't answered in these links.....

How do you get on the list of top attackers? What are the requirements? Most damage? Killing blow?? Everything seems based on the top attacker's list, but we need to know how to get on the top attacker list.
Also!! How big is this list?? What factors how long the list is? Lets say the list is ten players long. If there's only three ppl attacking, do they automatically qualify to be on the list? If the length of the list is determined by how many ppl are attacking it, what's the minimum and what's the maximum? If there's only three attacking, how many? If there's 20 attacking, how many?
AND!! If u and I are in a party, but the other 2 ppl attacking it aren't, do we count as one person attacking or do we still count as 2? Would our damage count together if we are counted as 1 person (which I'm sure we do)? Does this make it harder for the other 2 to make it on the top attacker list then? AND, if we are counted as 1 in a party, does it add up our luck if we are the random person selected when factoring in how much luck the random person from the top attacker list is wearing??

See what happens when you tell me there's a list and just leave it at that? :/

Those questions regarding top attackers and party are legitimate and go way beyond the luck issue, but they sadly have never been officially answered as far as I know. Hence we have people in party, people starting party, people breaking party, etc etc, to try to optimize loot while no one knows for sure how it exactly works

Awhile ago, I built a very high luck suit and used to use it on a tamer. I made careful notes, searched all loot items… both WITH and WITHOUT this suit.

The only thing that I discovered in this experiment was that the suit made no difference, what so ever, in the loot.

I don’t know if tamers are left out of the mix or what… but it seems a gigantic waist of time and worry. Better to have a suit that keeps you protected and mobile.

I still say that Luck should be like it is in a lot of other RPGs: a stat that determines your chance for a critical hit.

Also: Critical hits!

Did you use the suit down in shame? According to what I understand, shame is suppose to be different than anywhere else with the luck factor. Thanks for sharing the results tho. We've been doing a lot of trials and error on our end too and we're just as stumped as to how the luck factors in. Not really seeing the difference either....seems like its been going in spurts for my friends. They get really good loot for a bit, then blah loot for a bit.....

Also: critical hits.....pfft I uncritical stab, swing, shot, better then any critical hit

Is this a national secret or something? What's wrong with an official answer to these legitimate questions?

I am beginning to think Luck is just random and they make a hazy description of it to placate us.

I believe The list is 20 long (not positive but remember this being talked about a while back)
being in a party or not does not matter if you damage the creature and are one of the top 20 to do damage to it you go on the list!
When the creature dies the luck is chosen randomly from the list

This is for luck generation

keep in mind this sounds to me like it is for each item so if the monster has 5 items and there are 20 people on the list
the items could be generated by the luck of 5 different people(not positive on this one but thats what the description from phoenix sounds like to me)

If I remember correctly, in the classic system, Luck affects the CHANCES of getting an upgraded loot with higher mod intensities, it is NOT used to actually calculate the intensities themselves. In addition in this classic system Luck follows a logarithmic scale, thus at high level the difference of a small points is hardly noticeable (for example at 2000 Luck the chance to get at upgraded loot is 68.22%. and at 2100 Luck it is 70.09%)

Now there is no way to tell if it works the same in the new Shame system or if Luck is now part of the actual intensity calculation, but one thing we know for sure because it has been stated by one of the Devs is that Luck has no impact on the probabilities to have penalties (Cursed/CannotBeRepaired/Brittle/Luck-100).

Clearly it would help a lot if there was an official answer made.
