How do you see the decay status of a house you don't own?

For those who do IDOC hunting, how can you tell the decay status of a house? The house signs I've looked at don't seem to give any indication of this.

A highlight of the sign (just pointing the cursor at it, not clicking it), should show the housing status. If the decay process has started, there will be an addition line of text stating the "condition" (under where it says whether or not the house is public or private). If there is nothing there, the house isn't decaying.

Thanks. I thought that was how it was done, but so far in my brief time back I haven't run across a house that had any decay info on the sign.
