Every time I try to repair it I get the message "You cant repair that using this type of tool" message. I don't know what other tools to try. Also they do say they have self repair 3 yet they never seem to repair themselves. Am I missing the obvious?

bokuto is normally repaired by a carpenter. I can't say I've ever tried to repair the peasant's bokuto though.
