How do you make a Mailbox work?

My house is set to private and I have a Mailbox that can be accessed without coming onto the property. The setting is set to Anyone, but people that try to use it get the message that it is secure. How are the Mailboxes suppose to work?

Place the mailbox anywhere in your home and secure it by saying “I Wish to Secure this” Set the Security to [Owner Only]Anyone will be able to put items into the mailbox under this setting but only you will be able to take them out DO NOT set the security to [Anyone] if you do then anyone can access the mailbox to take items out!

While neither of those specify, I believe your house has to be 'public' for the box to work. The house doors, of course, can be set to allow only friends, co-owners etc access.

All said is right. House security settings regulate the access to the mailbox for drop ins. Whereas Mail box security settings regulate the access for the clearance of the box.

And this is one very stupid thing, that the house security settings override basic access of items like runebooks, bulletin boards, crystal portals and mailboxes on outer stairs.

One other point ... Mailboxes need to be 'secured' and not 'locked' when placing them. Has to be 'secured' in order for other players to drop something in it and if house is private, only those who have been granted access to house or friended can drop things in ...

Believe me, Olahorand, some see that fact as a blessing. A mate was stalked by a player constantly filling up his mailbox with trash. In those situations you want to be able to set the access on a char by char basis (via the house menu).
