After reading Stupid Miner's post on the Bane and the possible difficulty of finding crystalline blackrock on their corpses I thought it would be interesting to create a poll asking how people collect the stuff. Since getting more than 2,000 loyalty points does absolutely nothing worthwhile, the only reason to continue participating in the event is for the chance at chest items and/or to loot crystalline blackrock, yet you can also get the resource from mining/ore elementals or from killing ratmen in the cavern of the discarded.

I am collecting mine from mining/cavern/Ophidians at the moment. they are a little hard to see on the corpses but I have collected a couple hundred from the event, so they are still easy enough to see, but it would be nice if they were a little bigger or backpacks had a lighter background.

I've got most of mine from Gargoyle pick axes and Verite/Valorite elementals when working on my stocks of ingots... but I'd been selling it for 500k per 10 on Europa, so I had no stocks of blackrock itself.

I've gained 58 since from running the event and checking the corpses during a fight, but it might be my imagination but I think either people are starting to get wise and check themselves too, or there's someone scripting to loot it because I've finding maybe 2 or 3 per run now (as well as a huge increase in loot that appears to be on the corpse, but really isn't)...

Rats in the Cavern and Ore elems for me, and never had a problem "seeing" the Blacrock either (grid view on a lighter background), and right-click looting makes picking them up even easier.

I've built myself a mini blackrock detector. I'm anxious to try it out today.

If the shards go down, you'll know how it worked out.

I do a little bit of all of the first three choices. pretty evenly spread among them depending on what I feel like doing that day, so I didn't vote.

You forgot the option of "I don't and I don't care".
I have no interest in this event.
I checked it out on the first day on Atl, saw the griefing going on and decided it wasn't worth the effort.

I made a cloak out of Abyssal Cloth when SA first released, wasn't really big on how it looked though.

I thought about a "no interest" option, however, the poll is intended only for people who do collect, or have collected, the resource, so I decided not to include a "no interest" option.

I also considered an "all of the above" option, but I am curious about the specialization of the users. For example, looting Ophidians/Banes becomes challenging as corpses stack together, yet the drop rate is much higher than other methods of collecting the resource. Meanwhile, the drop rate on elementals is also fairly high, and that method is perhaps a bit more convenient than any other method. Lastly, rats at the cavern provide many more things that are useful in addition to the resource, so a user would be able to stockpile quite a deal of other things at the same time, such as seeds of renewal and, as mentioned, abyssal cloth. I'm curious if the stacked corpses, as well as the rush to get to the next marker, detracts from the drop rate provided by this new event enough to encourage users to seek out more convenient, if possibly slower, methods of collection.
