On atlantic.

Lots of question
One guy has 6 vendors. Lined 3 and 3. Front 3 stocked with 100's of million of stuff. Doents look like dupe. But everyday and the same time (was lucky to catch it) , 3 vendors that had the stuff are move to the vendors that didnt have the stuff.

3 vendors in front not dressed and empty
3 vendors in back dressed and full

Every day, the player moves them between vendors.

He isnt able to be seen and doesnt answer. Doesnt mean hes not their.

Anyway.

At what time do the vendors get charged on atlantic? Is it a timer from when you created the vendor or is it the same time for every vendor?

If you can just move your items at a known time, does that prevent you from getting charged? Wouldnt you be charged for them being on the other vendor?

Why not charge players for putting items on. Like after its own for 15 minutes you get charged your first fee, and daily there after.

Do scripts manage vendors? Dang. That would save me 10's of millions.

*thinks to self* "did i think that or say it out loud"

Vendors are charged depending on the original time they were placed, with each one changing slightly per day according to how long the down time is for server down. So if you place a vendor at 8am one week, within a couple of weeks it's charging you in the evening. It adds roughly 30 minutes per day to the original time of placement.

If you kept VERY careful track of time of placement, along with the time each charges every day, it's possible that you could play musical chairs with the vendors.

That would certainly stop the musical chairs routine, along with the practice of pulling merchandise off a vendor just prior to the time it charges the fee, then placing them back on again afterward, thus avoiding all but 60gp per day.

I wouldn't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.

Actually, I think you typed it. :coco:

Oh, and vendors on Siege charge three time the price of those on production shards...this little fact does seem to help people trade amongst themselves...la

Just lower the daily fees. The 0.005% daily vendor fee might have been ok 5 years ago, but its too much now. That way more people might try selling things on vendors.

Hmmm...I thought one of the patches last year introduced code so that people could no longer play the "time of day shuffle" with vendors to avoid the fees.

A shame the content of the old forums is gone, there were some formulas given for the vendor calculations for both regular shards, and Siege when this discussion came up in a thread last year.

I suppose at my house I could place 3 vendors 8am, 2p, and 8pm. I could just move stuff every day.

Or just sell the higher priced stuff Friday Saturday and Sunday. And just start new vendors each morning. 4k vs 800k.

Hmm.

Or just buy a new vender, and delete the old one. I think the vender fee should happen when the item is sold. 10k item sells, vender takes his 500 fee.

Nope, the vendor still tells you WHEN it's going to charge you, so, it's really easy to avoid.

Also, you can just put up osme vendors at server up, then more at midday....

Vendor fees are outdated.

What they need to do is remove vendor fees and implement a global search feature for items.

yeah, they just switch the stuff before the vendor 'poofs' for non payment. they pay 60 gold per cycle on each vendor, rather than hundred-ks/millions. i thought about doing it once, but i forget time too much and would have ended up replacing vendors too often lol, although just replacing the vendor would be cheaper on the really stuffed high end vendors.

I seriously doubt that a heavy duper would be bothered about paying vendor fees once per day,,,thats nonsense if they making 100s of millos for free....

I like the idea were the vendor takes his/her % on the sale of each item...be it 1%-2% of the price etc etc

If nothing sells that no charge...though im kinda guessing peeps would abuse this..sooo..maybe not...

Actually that is a good idea.
It cant be abused.
Anything sold exact a fee.
Pretty straight forward.
If it were done this way. We can have some really impressive vendors.

The fee would have to be higher then the charge per day to keep the sink in place but that could be worked out.

If charges were at point of sale only, it would be abused. People would simply use vendors for storage (like they do with BoD collections now), setting a ridiculous price on the items they wanted to store knowing they would never sell and thus incur no charge. If someone was dumb enough to buy something, it would just be a huge profit.

Seriously?

So I can add Secure Storage to my Houses for .... well basically free?

That is what people used Vendors for when they first came out, well and their personal banker. Hence the addition of the .... Daily Fee.

One point and a solution...

1) If the rent was charged at point of sale, I would place a bulletin board next to my vendor and I would invite customers to leave their ICQ for a discount equal to the rent.

2) My solution: Make rent payable daily and only withdrawn from your bankbox. Then simply charge the rent in advance. To put an item on a vendor, you need sufficient gold in your bank for day one's rental. When you run out of gold in bank, one random item vanishes from your vendor each day. If you shift items from vendor to vendor, you get charged. If you store astronomically priced items on a vendor, you'd be charged astronomical rent.

Or, make the items for sale on a vender part of the lockdowns for the house. Yea yea, i know, you have 47 Vendors, and 200 items for sale on each on.....

You look at when it says the vendor will expire, and the # of hours left is the time til when the vendor will take his money.
Keep in mind that's only for rented vendors. If you own the house the vendors are on you don't get this information.

Some thoughts!

How about:

Price of item must be entered as you place an item on vendor.
Player is notified of fee.
Option to cancel here to prevent accidental over pricing/charging
If enough funds on vendor, item is placed and fee is deducted.

For this to work :

Allow repositioning of containers.
Allow change of sellers description whilst on vendor
Allow change of price whilst on vendor.
If the price is changed, same confirmation gump for charge.
If charge is higher, it is taken at end of day.
If charge lower, difference is charged immediately. (To prevent charge avoidance by reduction?? thought doubtful as someone might buy at reduced price?!)

Maybe.......?!

Or maybe without all the confirmation gumps!?
If you're silly enough to accidentally put something on at 999999999999 and there is enough on there to charge you, maybe you should be charged!
