How do Luna Vendors make money?

I am noticing a lot of vendors lately that have items at twice the normal pricing on all their items. Like Mace and Shield glasses for 16 Mil, Crimson Cintcure for 26 Mil, that sort of thing. They have like 50 items on them at stupid pricing and they never seem to sell anything and yet they are there week after week. This must be costing millions a week in vendor fees. How do these vendors ever make any money?

I've been wondering that even before Luna. but I think they bank on one of a few things:

1. all other items of that type are sold out, forcing a sale
2. impulse buyers
3. lazy rich people who found the item, and would like to stop hunting for it

I will admit that I do use those websites, but at the same time I hate it because it only counts Luna vendors... man, I hate the fact Luna was ever created.

well i could understand if they made it include brit moongate vendors, tokuno moongate vendors or yew moongate vendors... but a vendor mall in the middle of nowhere isnt worth going to

One of these sites does include the entire ring around Zento.

This. To be honest this is why in rl the convenience store at the corner makes money. Folks could get their soda, chips a lot cheaper at a grocery store, but usually its by those wanting them right then are willing to pay the higher price rather than driving a bit further, stand in a line and get it.

They have long since fixed that. People used to take items off there vendors 23 hours into the day wait a few hours and put the items back on. You can't do that anymore. Those people selling those items are paying the fees for them.

Actually they are still doing that, but it involves 2 more steps.

I use one of those sites too. The one I use has the option to add your shop to their database if it isn't already listed. Even though it uses illegal programs to inventory you shop, it is a very useful tool. It would awesome if EA produced a site like that. Though they would probably charge you to use it.

All you have to do now is have a friend/another account buy the items off the vendor for you.

Rinse, repeat.

The wealthy Luna vendors just buy out people selling something at a reasonable price and then sell it in Luna for far more than it's worth. Someone wants it, they pay the way high Luna players price or do without.

That search site only supporting Luna shops as a rule adds to the problem. Spend hours or days wandering the game world hunting for vendors to see if they might have what you want, or do a quick search on that site and be guided to overpriced Luna vendors.

Makes you wonder if Luna Vendor players run that site.

Here's the deal
I have a shop in Luna -- paid a crap load just to buy it so ya prices are gonna be higher its a shopping mall but I do agree there are some that have rediculous prices in the hopes that someone is in a rush to a hunt and needs something with no time to look other spots. I sell most of my stuff within a few days of placing them I would rather have good turnover then shoppers come back to see whats new. But what does it matter how much the prices are no one has to buy--it is a buyers market.

Not sure how? They fixed that a year or so ago, even if you take an item off a vendor now you are still charged the fee for that item. You only have like a 15 min timer.

Although im sure someone had figured out a way around that.

There is a daily timer on a vendor, it tells you when it's going to charge you. Just before the timer is up, you buy all the items off the vendor. After the timer passes, you put the items back on.

You don't pay the vendor fees for said items.

There's an easier way that doesn't require a second account to purchase the items. Used fairly often on high end items, easy to tell

Where is this timer? I am looking at my vendor and no where does it say when the gold is collected.

Since when does a newb need that stuff those are luxuries that I couldnt get when I started back in 98 even a few years ago I didnt have a crimmy
If they need stuff to start, join a guild for guidence and help or search the lands for shops like the rest of us.

Again no one has to go to Luna -- its there like restaurants and bars you pay the price for the convenience.

yep and that works to a extent! but does not help you insta find your items !
I personally would rather them add a server to handle vendor searches then spend resources on some of the other ideas I have seen! but I really doubt any of that will ever happen no matter how much we spam the idea!

To avoid the fees can't you just put said item in a bag and before the fees are calculated take bag off grab a new bag and put back on afterwords?

While this probably works, one of the things I really hate when shopping is opening up a vendor and only seeing bags in there. Have to open each an every bag just to see what's for sale.
