How do I turn off this annoying UO song?

I recently re-installed UO on a new lap top. I am using EC with Pincos. When I first log in, I get told to run EC Playsound if I want to use Pincos. This is a bit annoying, but I can cope. When I launch EC play sound, Pincos starts working but it immediately starts playing this song "Lala something flies from the north, lala to the sea, something something whispers la la, La la stab out your ears, I'm not going to stop la la... *piano solo*"

Then it starts again. And repeats. Over and over. It's like the macarena. Only without hot chicks shaking their asses to at least distract you a little.

Turning off music in the options doesn't seem to affect it. Sometimes I can get it to stop by closing and restarting the client (leaving Playsound running in the background). That's not working right now (perhaps because playsound is patching?). But surely there is a better way than this?

Not sure what song you mean exactly, but please note that EC Playsound Music is its own option below the standard sound/music options in the game settings.

Unfortunately I have that one turned off already as well - doesn't seem to affect anything.

I have never used Pinco's UI but I am wondering if there's a way to turn down the Playsound volume to zero.

I know the song you mean and it is pretty bad. I just hit the mute key on my keyboard. You can tweak the volumes from windows sound settings.

Can set playsound to zero and it still doesn't fix it (at least until I close and restart UO, which sometimes fixes it).

And muting on the keyboard is what I usually resort to, but it's a pain in the ass when you're doing something like chaining momentum strike and relying on the sound to know when to re-cast it. When you say tweaking it in Windows, are you suggesting there is a way of just muting the sound in the individual (playsound) program?

You can try in the systray, right click the ec playsound symbol

I use the EC with Pinko's and do NOT have the music playing. Uncheck all the boxes in User Settings, Sound. Hit apply then log out, close the client, the next time you open the client it should be off, if not, no idea as that is what I do and it works every time.

BTW that is beautiful music if you listen to the original. Karliene & Celtic Borders: You Win or You Die the theme used for the "Game of Thrones" series. Or a video with pics and Lyrics for You Win or You Die

Ditto. I like the song.... but I know some who don't. But I too am a big Game of Thrones Fan... Think that's the difference... and I think the song is beautiful.... but that's me. Anyway I never have trouble turning it off... however if you are just getting started with Pinco's you will have to shut it off on EVERY character you have and sadly this means you have to suffer through listening to that music that is TOO LOUD each time you log in..... I went and made a "base" template for Dexers and for Mages. And I just went through all my characters dropping that into the profiles and deleting each character in there and renaming the base file..... took me awhile but got all the characters all fixed so I don't ever hear music. I pretty much fixed everything that I like on all my characters so setting up a new character is very quick and easy.

I LOATHE that song at this point. In fact, I deleted it out of the EC's music folder (it is called Theme.mp3) Though every time I check for an update to Pinco's UI, it gets replaced (note, I manually check periodically, as I run Playsound directly and skip the patcher)

The bandage noise is also extremely annoying, and prone to horrid auditory weirdness when running multiple clients. (like stuttering of the tearing sound at about 600% normal volume)

You can turn the music off in the Sound tab, but you have to do that for each and every character you log in...which is a pain. And yes, the default volume is 100%, which is enough to easily deafen headset users. Playsound can sometimes be found in the Windows mixer (, where you can permanently lower its output. left click the Windows volume control, then choose Mixer at the bottom. Note: Playsound HAS to have played a sound already for it to show up!)
