How do i turn logs into boards?

use a saw -> under "other" you can craft boards.
( it's interesting how some of the simplest things can elude us - it was six months before I discovered how to cut up bones )

You need a carpentry tool, also you will need the carpentry skill on a character if you plan to make anything other than normal boards.

So I can't make heartwood boards for example if I have low carpentry skill? How do I know if a log will turn into heartwood? Will it be called a heartwood log?

Can I break a bow back down into boards? If so, how?

It would say Heartwood Logs and you have to be GM carpenter to make them into boards (GM for Heartwood, Bloodwood & Frostwood).
