How do I page a GM?

Hello,

I need GM assistance, and don't think I understand how to page one correctly.

My 6th character slot is messed up since the account upgrade. It shows my account as 11 months old, even though it is 54 months old. None of the bonuses from the old account work - I can't ride my ethy on this char and my skill cap is 700 instead of 720.

When I use the "help" menu to page a GM, I go to "other" and then "other" again. I type in my brief description like what I said above. I click OK to submit.

I don't get any message about a queue number, a confirmation that I have placed a page, or any acknowledgement that I have placed a help request.

Am I doing this correctly? How do I know if I have placed a GM page? How do you guys see the queue, even if it is worthless and doesn't help with estimated time? I'm playing in classic 2d client if that makes a difference.

I do not think GM will be able to assist you in this issue.

Send a PM to Messanna.

It seems the accont managment migration has hit a snag with the dual programs that keep our info. The old servers are having trouble letting the new one acess the info... I was told today that all accounts are fine, and as soon as they have corrected the problem the accounts will register properly.
He also said that no CS / GM/ Dev can help you till this problem is resolved.
Messanna asked if any who had trouble with the 6th character slot pm her.

Already called, they told me to contact in-game support by paging a GM.

It even says to page a GM in the UO Herald news release about the current state of account migration:

"•6th Character Slot issues should be resolved, if you continue to see these issues please contact in game support "

I appreciate the input, but I'm mostly concerned with the correct method to page a GM - am I supposed to get a confirmation message or queue notification telling me that I am actually requesting help? Or once I submit my request, do I just wait patiently hoping that my request will eventually be serviced?

I sent a PM to "Mesanna" here on stratics, I hope that is the correct way to get in touch with her!

I had the same issue Saturday when attempting to page a GM, I tried paging several times thinking it didn't go through - this was while on the Enhanced Client... I finally decided to switch to the Classic Client to page... same thing though, no note about what number I was in queue or anything like that, but I did have a GM message me after a few minutes.

Maybe you just need to be a little patient, even though it isn't showing the note, it probably did go through. I know even when the note does show it can take quite some time to be able to speak with a gm, so just put in a page and go about your business until they message you or you get too bored of waiting, or have to leave.

Many are having trouble getting GM's in game. The vast amount of problems this migration has on their time in game to answer might be why many are not getting answered at all.

His account is a bit more bugged then just the 6th slot. He has stat loss, age regression, and a host of other things that need a look by more then just a GM's aid can fix.

I have issue with account age....

Verified that on my account management page, age is about 2-3 months off
Verified in game display of account age is 5 months off

Account age issue only happened to my oldest account from UO's original release.


Some of the account upgrades are not showing up on some accounts as well.

The only info I am finding on the 6th char slot and I had quoted this yesterday in another thread....

The only thing I have seen concerning Mesanna posting concerning any issue is....

Thanks for pointing this out, so to clear up the confusion we will be changing the FAQ to state: You will be able to recover your account information if you have the correct current email address and billing information.
Hope this makes everyone feel a little more secure.

I corrected the word address for her in the quote since she had wrote addess :thumbup:

I figure her and Cal's PM box is full with all these issues and takes away much time from any help they can do if they had to read PM's all day. I think posts and this post... http://vboards.stratics.com/uo-developer-feed/248562-account-migration-issues.html#post1998512 where Mesanna is suggesting to put any issues in would be more effecient since they are concentrating on that thread.

I'm still left wondering about in game support though -

Does using the "help" menu to page a GM usually give some sort of confirmation message that I have submitted a ticket?

Do I have to submit a new ticket every time I log in to try and get help, or does my ticket stay in the queue even when I'm offline?

Can I play on a different character while waiting for a help response?

Yes you can play on a different character while waiting for a response. Just keep yourself in que and they will get a hold of you eventually.

Just make sure you are clear and specific wording the issue when you page for a GM.

And how do I know I am in a queue? Is there a menu that you see in your game telling you that you are in a queue? I wouldn't know how to leave the queue as of now - there is absolutely nothing going on in my client to tell me that I have an active help request.

I'm thinking she said that too (couldn't find it), and something about the call to a GM to open a service ticket (maybe that was a herald reply)

In the Que, you will usually see text about it pop up 'occasionally', that's about it.

Apparently the issue persists. I incorrectly assumed that since I didn't see it in any of the newer news updates that it was resolved. You know what they say about when you assume things... you make an ass of u & me!

GM's are active and reachable

Your GM just responded in a more timely manner than Cal or Mesanna ...
