Not at all. I'm just asking if they can.. I already tried the most logical method.

why would one want too?
Since we don't have the homebrew ability, at least a tavern owner or home decorator could engrave some barrels, giving them appearance of kegs holding the house favorite. 
Potion kegs can be engraved, but not barrels, open or closed, nor open kegs, sorry.
Best I can suggest is a feedback form on UOHerald requesting that they be added to the list of possibilities for the wooden container engraving tool, since they are all wooden containers.
