Returning after a break I placed a house in what was - four years ago - an absolutely diamond spot in Fel. Having had a wander about I've soon realized it isn’t such an amazing spot anymore and I could have a much bigger house elsewhere.
When I played the concept of this 'moving crate' didn’t exit, could someone please explain the best way to move house without losing anything? I eventually only want a single house, do I just place the new house, ensure I refresh both every day and then just move my stuff by hand? Is the moving crate something that would enable me to move a lot of weight and items quickly?

Any advice would be very welcome.

The moving crate isn't transferrable between houses, it's only for the plot it comes with. Basically if you customize, any illegally placed items (IE placed on stairs etc) will get shoved into the moving crate, along with some deeded items (raised goza mats etc).

You'll pretty much have to place a new house then move your stuff with packies or beetles. You will have 5 1/2 days before the old house will fall, so you have a bit of time to get moved, but it's better to do it sooner than later in case RL happens. When you're done moving you should be able to drop the house and get that money back. If it won't let you drop the house then check the house moving crate and remove everything inside of it, then try to drop again.
