Houses Total Decay Time (Like New to Collapse)

I know, I know.. Not another IDOC thread... But,

Since the "recent" changes to the IDOC decay rate a Dev posted in one of the other threads "the total time to fall is 5 days with each stage being random" (something close to that). Anyone able to find it and copy/paste to this thread? I searched but couldn't locate the post.

I finally found one that was at "Like New" Friday at 1:45 pm est. I stood by it for about 15 minutes and it changed to "Slightly Worn." I watched the house like a hawk and was there when it collapsed yesterday (Sunday) at 1140 am est. That was less than 48 hours from "Like New" to complete collapse. I will go out on a limb and guess the house was not "Like New" for 3 days. Actually I know it wasn't as I went through there a few days before.

If the intent is for decays to take 5 days with random stages it is not working as intended.

Since there still seems to be some confusion about how long it take for houses to fall I will provide a more detailed explanation.

First case is where your account is inactive for 90 days then becomes condemned.

Second case is where you trade an existing house or place a new house and the first house becomes condemned.

As stated in the Producer Letter houses will fall within 5 days. There are 6 states that the house will transition to within the 5 days. There is no defined time that a house will be in each state.

Decay Stages:

1. Like New
2. Slightly Worn
3. Somewhat Worn
4. Fairly Worn
5. Greatly Worn
6. In Danger Of Collapsing

So an example:

Day 1: Like New-> Slightly Worn

Day 2: Slightly Worn

Day 3: Slightly Worn -> Fairly Worn

Day 4: Fairly Worn -> Greatly Worn

Day 5: Greatly Worn-> In Danger Of Collapsing -> Drop

Another example:

Day 1: Like New-> Slightly Worn

Day 2: Slightly Worn -> Fairly Worn

Day 3: Fairly Worn -> Greatly Worn

Day 4: Greatly Worn

Day 5: Greatly Worn ->In Danger Of Collapsing -> Drop

Also other people were saying houses were falling well before the 5 day period

@@Bleak Hey look, two more houses fell within 24 hours after entering decay. (One of which was again, the owner attempted to save by activating that account) It's a good thing we helped him move his stuff to another house for temporary storage.

Please provide accounts and dates when the houses fell to [email protected]. There are now hard limitations set on how fast a house can fall. We will take a look at your claim.

These were posted by Bleak so if you are seeing decay rates earlier then 5 days shoot him or Mesanna a message so they can look into it

i like it.

people have 90 days to turn their accounts back on too keep their storage warehouses up and going.
if they are so bad at math that they cant be bothered or figure out when day 89 is and re-up BEFORE their house even goes into state then they deserve the yard sale.

and as for the randomness of the IDOC's, i love it!

when people can figure out down to the second when houses are dropping there is something wrong.

in fact..... we should have those people get ahold of the people who cant count to 90 and teach them how to count.

you know what i do with the one account that i hop scotch every 90 days?
i type this into google on the day the account turns off
"90 days from today"
and by some strange feat of science it tells me the exact day 90 days from that moment.
i write it down on a yellow sticky and put it on the wall beside my computer monitor and i put a reminder on my iphone/ipad for day 89.

i know this may sound callous and cold but come on.
and let me preemptive strike some of the replies we are bound to see.
1) my friend couldn't afford to pay on day 89 and he/she likes to do it on day 95 so they can squeeze a couple more days out of the system.
- answer - your friend should probably not be playing a online game and should maybe focus their efforts on securing some education or a better job rather then blocking housing space by people who pay every month.
2) my friend was sick and couldnt get back on in time.
-answer - your friend was sick and couldnt get back in 92 days? but 95 days was gonna be A-O-K? your friend should focus on their health and not so much on a online game, and 90 days of being sick we are talking a long term illness not a cold or flu so chances are they are not coming back to the game if they havnt been back in 90 days already.
3) i placed a new house and thought i had 7 days to move
-answer - move faster or dont up size. now this one i can see and i can agree a bit with, the Dev's have said we have a couple days and its shorter then what they are telling us, so ok, but really ive moved entire castles in a couple hours that where full to the brim so its not that hard. what do people do, place that keep they have wanted for years then log off and not log back in for a week because they are celebrating?

here's an idea, why not let the dev's concentrate on the paying clients who play every day and let the 90 day account hoppers roll the dice if they are too cheap to pay on day 89 rather then day 90.

It was not an OSI house. And I am fine with the randomness as well but when the Devs say/think the decay timer is 5 days and some are falling in 2. Thats all.

My houses are important enough to me that I've arranged for contingencies in case something happens. My best friend has all my logins, all my e-mail accounts and passwords, and just in case, the six codes from the Origin site to take over my Origin account (in case an e-mail is lost). Yes, I trust my friend that much, including paying for my accounts if need be, say, if I wound up in the hospital for months and lost my credit cards because I couldn't make payments.

Larisa, you forgot the Somewhat Worn stage.
I noticed that also, but then wondered if she didn't do it on purpose (as in a "stage" gets "skipped").... Is it possible to skip a "stage"?

Okay let me say this again..I didn't say it..Bleak did...follow the linky in my post...as for *Skipping* a stage...it didn't...read it carefully...

Decay Stages:

1. Like New
2. Slightly Worn
3. Somewhat Worn
4. Fairly Worn
5. Greatly Worn
6. In Danger Of Collapsing

So an example:

Day 1: Like New-> Slightly Worn

Day 2: Slightly Worn

Day 3: Slightly Worn -> Fairly Worn (In this example it would go from Slightly THROUGH somewhat to Fairly in the same day, not skipping)

Day 4: Fairly Worn -> Greatly Worn

Day 5: Greatly Worn-> In Danger Of Collapsing -> Drop

Another example:

Day 1: Like New-> Slightly Worn

Day 2: Slightly Worn -> Fairly Worn (Same for this example, from Slightly to Somewhat to Fairly in the same day, not skipping)

Day 3: Fairly Worn -> Greatly Worn

Day 4: Greatly Worn

Day 5: Greatly Worn ->In Danger Of Collapsing -> Drop

Those examples are nice and all or would be if it were true, too bad it's a fiction. I tried to tell people... Due to the IDOC changes I've already emptied out and let 5 accounts close for good recently, with another one soon. Plenty of opportunity to watch how quickly my houses go poof.

I too have shut down certain accounts that have held RP houses, deco houses, or warehouses. After i saw a house of mine go into decay after 2 weeks of shutting down the account. I decided to never trust UO to maintain something that isnt being paid for currently. Its not a big deal to me, but it just seems like another way for UO to lose potential money. Instead of getting my money every 3 months they arent getting it at all.

To be honest I dont think they changed the idoc system on purpose, I think it was a inadvertent reaction to their "fix" of the shard shields. (when was the last time the game made a major change with out mentioning at least a little bit in the patch notes) The random times are fine, mainly because they arent so random if you watch close enough and do enough of them. There have been plenty of good ideas to fix or revamp the idoc system, but i dont think the are an absolutely necessary fix.

Only thing i wish is that they would be honest and open, tell us the rules that we are to be governed by. Its obvious a lot of people still enjoy doing idocs and its a big part of the game. I do not expect a dev or mesanna to come in here and just wave a magic wand to grant all of our wishes. However, It would probably be a good move PR wise to keep your customers informed or at least acknowledge the issue with a post from time to time.

Until that time i look forward to seeing you guys at some more "random" idocs. It is always good to catch up and share stories of past house falls, fights, and victories. :)

P.S. Please icq me if you have any account, housing, idoc, placing issues. I am pretty familiar with how things will work and would be glad to answer any questions.

At this point I'm pretty sure the players wouldn't even be told if they renamed the whole game. Seriously, I know UO has never been the best with informing players about things, and I know the devs are trying to listen to the players more but it would be nice if they spoke up sometimes to, instead of just sitting quietly not telling anyone what they are doing for weeks and months when a simple one or two sentence answer posted on Stratics would satisfy most people.

Since the housing change, houses are falling in three days. Everyone knows this, devs have been told. Hasnt taken 5 days for a house to fall in months.

Chargar 42 is correct. It's three days since the change...regardless of what developers say...can't think of any that have lasted five...

Just make it so 2 weeks after the account goes inactive no secures can be accessed and doors and teles can't be used, vendors can't be renewed. House will still stay the 90 days but can't be used.
If account goes active again, all get back to normal.
