House timer?

Just wondering if this information is still correct? I got it from the Origin uo site, but it is from 2004.

"If you recently placed a house and are still within the 7-day timer, you can demolish that house and place a new one right away! As long as our housing database knows you have zero houses existing on any shard, you can pick up and place houses again and again and again without any concern over the timer."

I have just placed a new house yesterday, but I placed a really small plot just to make sure no one else came along and took it. I had to put all my stuff from my old house into the bank..so I would really prefer not to have to wait 7 days until I can demolish it and place a bigger one.

But I would hate to demolish it to find I cant place it again =[

When I was running two accounts, the system you just described worked perfectly on one of them. However, on the other account, once I placed (and demolished), nothing I tried would let me out of the 7-day timer. Maybe that account is just bugged...

Anyone else have any input on this?

If i am not mistaken, the way it works is this: If you placed a house, you can not place another one in a different area for 7 days. But, if you stand under your house sign and say "i would like to resize my house" it gives you the option to demolish the house. It does not let anyone place on your plot for 1 hour - so you have that exclusive time to resize. 1 thing i would note though is if you resize and place something that fits - you cant resize for 1 hours again. So i would start big and work down as opposed to small and work up. Also, i think if you have anything in your house - it drops under your sign and is free to be looted/stolen by anyone that comes by.... so i would make sure the house is empty before you try

PS - Also note you can only hold 1 house per account (not per shard). So if you own a house - no matter what shard - and you place a new one with the old one up, the old one becomes condemmed and will fall in approx 7 days. You cant uncondem it with the same account. You either need to sell it, demolish it, or trade it to another account to "uncondem"

Exception to the 1-house-per-account rule: Test Center. Currently placing a house there does NOT endanger any housing on prodo shards. This allows you to experiment with housing designs and deco.

Thank you for the detailed replies everyone. I demolished my house (But I didn't know about the resize command!) And it would not let me place and did not reset the 7 day timer.

So I just reactivated an old account and placed using that one and I will just have to transfer it over.
