House Resizing Bug *BEWARE*

I attempted to resize my house this afternoon and lost everything due to a bug. Thought I would post about it here just to warn as many people as possible.

I used the command "I wish to resize my house", and the house dropped and everything in it fell to the ground. This is normal.

When I attempted to place the new house (after finally getting it lined up in the right position) the house showed up, all the containers of stuff was relocated in a pile under the house sign, and I received the gump asking me if I would like to commit. As soon as I clicked on the "OK" button, the house disappeared, and all the containers except for one bag disappeared as well.

I tried several more times (placing in the right spot, having the house show up in game, getting the confirmation gump, and pressing "OK", and the same thing happened three more times. On the fourth try the house finally stuck, but all my items are still gone. No, they are not stuck under the house somewhere, they are not even showing up when using Ctrl+Shift. I checked the moving crate in the off chance they ended up there, no luck. I am sure someone will post a response asking if another player could have grabbed the stuff; I had a stealther/tracker there on my alt account and I know there were no hidden players there who may have grabbed by stuff. Even if there were, I had like 20+ containers full and they could not all have been taken by players.

I paged a GM, but still have not received a response, and I am pretty certain when I do it will be the canned "Sorry, we cannot replace lost items".

So, just be aware that there is a bug out there and anything left under the house sign when you are placing a house may end up going poof.

• NOTE: This is an actual “demolish” – if you have grandfathered houses, resizing your house will condemn them just like placing a new one would. Also, Items will behave just as though you demolished the house – they will drop to the ground and will be free for grabs by anyone passing by.

  • Empty your house completely. Saying “I wish to resize my house” while standing under the house sign demolishes your house as though you’d used that option from the house sign and items will behave just as they would if you demolished the house – they will drop to the ground.

They were not taken, they were treated like items placed on the ground to block house placement and deleted. Anybody resizing has always been warned about emptying their house before do this because they may lose items. Have you done this before when resizing, you are the first person that I have heard of resizing while items are still in the house. Sorry for your lose but I am not sure if this is a bug or not because of the changes UO made with people trying to block house placement.

Yes, I have done this before, and I have been to a number of IDOCs where a house is placed even though items are still on the ground. It is supposed to move those items under the new house sign, not delete them. In fact, I did this yesterday and it worked as intended. This is a bug, not an intended feature of the game.

i rarely resize houses or even place new houses, but remembered this post. this method while useful in the past was apparently changed at some time in the last few years.

Awhile back there was an uproar and I use the term uproar mildly about people house block in Luna and the Devs made just about everything that people were using have no effect on blocking house placement. This may be the result of that fix where UO saw those items as blocking items and moved them out of the way and then poofed them. You may want to put in a Bug Report just to make sure. The only house I resized was a castle because it is the easiest way to move one and if it fails on the new spot you can always put it back where it was. I had to reopen 2 old accounts just to do this LOL.

So..let me get this straight. You knew the stuff would drop and you did it anyways and now you wonder why your stuff is gone. Gotcha.

Gypsy and or brigand camps where turned on for some event or storyline.

These camps spawned inside our houses sometimes.

We complained.

The devs turned on automatic delete? for these spawn's blocking items apparently.

They can explain better than I what they did, and they really ought to

When they turned off gypsy/brigand camp spawning in our houses they also turned off all the items in our houses getting kicked to a single tile beneath the house sign when the house falls.

So now if you choose the lazy person's method of resizing your house plot, dropping the house with your valuables still inside, you can look forward to being even more lazy afterwards, as all your containers/items save one, the one on top I expect, will be deleted when the house plot goes poof.

I am glad I saw this happening at idocs when the change went into effect and it never happened to me.

Sorry it happened to you, but if you read stratics uhall every single day, maybe 3 times every single day, you would have heard about this issue.
