I was thinking on this now that I owned a castle and what the "real" problem was and I came up with....storage.
I think the whole old non-custom housing problem could be swept away if they just increased the storage limits in an 18x18 to the same as a Castle.
I know the only reason I haven't sold my Castle already is the fact it allows me to store everything I need to be a crafter in todays game and so much more.
Now if I could have the same storage in an 18x18 i'd drop the castle so fast it wouldn't even rubble.
So I was thinking "is it that simple?"
If you wanted an old style castle you got one with large footprint but non-customisable,
If you wanted to design your own house then the 18x18 was for you,
both have the same storage so the only difference is cosmetic.
