House becoming 'illegally placed'?

Not been playing for a while, but decided to look back in on UO, logged back in inside my house near Yew Abbey, and checking the sign got rather confused - apparently it's 'illegally placed'.

It most certainly was NOT illegally placed when I bought it, that was something I specifically checked and double-checked before buying, just in case.... so what's happened to change it's status?

The Yew guardzone has changed, with this event.
Probably something to do with the removal/reapplying. I'd guess it's re-applied an older GZ (pre-meer?)

The house should be fine, you just can't re-place it, if it drops.

Sounds likely - thanks for the info!

Could there be a problem trading an 'illegal' house though? I'm definitely reducing accounts and intended making that my main home, but that plan fails if I can't transfer it.

I have Bought a House in the past that was Illegally placed. Should be fine. Just don't drop it.

Good to know - now to start thinning out huge piles of disorganised junk to fit into the reduced storage space!

I had a home that went 'illegally placed' when someone placed another house behind it. Later it went idoc and fell, after it was gone mine was legal again. So any changes around your home can turn yours illegally. I wouldnt worry, just dont drop it.

I don't envy anyone who has to downsize. I ran out of room in my 18 x 18 and was down to space for only 50 items in my keep. I was able to free up a lot lock-downs just by combining separate sets of stackable items. Then I aggressively cleaned out 11 years worth of junk and memorabilia. After a week of doing this off and on I am back up to over 900 lockdowns worth of space between the two houses. If nothing else, this experience has taught me the value of being organized.
