It has been a long while since I quit playing UO and walked away cold turkey and let everything go with a very large number of IDOCs. A couple of friends kept me updated on the IDOCs and when the last one dropped a Month or two ago. I did give the Siege Island Keep to Vic and a Couple of high value Castles to someone that I promised them to should I ever quit. But other than that all of my houses and pretty much everything went. I hope everyone enjoyed the IDOCs particularly the Fel Castles where I left most of the good stuffs.
LOL No I did not die, nope didn't go bankrupt, didn't sell everything and become a hermit living in a cave either
I just after all of the years in UO lost all of my interest in playing the game. Should I ever decide to return which is highly unlikely I did keep 100 plat stashed around on accts for some pocket change. I found that my memories of people and events in UO history were much better than the Present (at that time) in UO. I also found that I was playing more for those memories than the present or future. Seemed kind of pointless to continue paying all or any of the subs for something that only existed in my memory. So I just gave things I promised away, removed all of my billing info and let the accts die one by one and things go IDOC. It was just time for Tyrath and the PERVs to die and be gone from the UO World.
I occasionally play RuneScape now and then but mostly play Real Life. I retired in real life other than some black market business on the side. And have been doing the things I want to do and building the things I want. Not working too many hours and killing myself to make other people happy. I know some of you followed the T5R FB pages and one day they were just gone
If you are still interested in following my Real Life Adventures, and Antics the Kamp Krap FB page has been up and running for a little while now. The most recent project I have been working on and posting about is building a 14.75 acre lake, Working on the first of two ponds above the lake the first one I am building the dam for now will be 7.65 acres and the second I will build next year will be 5.6 acres. I am building a new house but having a contractor do the shell, windows and doors and will spend the winter framing and finishing the inside. One of those things where it made more sense to pay a contractor to some things and spend my time working on other things.
Which brings me to some things I am going to build in the fall and next year around the lake. And where the UO community can chip in with suggestions. I am going to build a few UO replica landmarks. I have firmly settled on two, the UO Ankh and Ocrina Island and Replica of the keep there (Scaled way down
) A perm real reminder of my time spent on Siege and in the Island Keep and well you can't build a tribute to UO without the Ankh! So I need 3 more suggestions of things folks feel would be good representations of UO History that are practical and can be built IRL. at not a huge expense..... Like under $10,000 per. Cough I am spending way too much on Ocrina Island and the keep LOL. Still paying for UO while not paying for UO hehe. If I have more space available in the half acre of bank I have plotted out I will build more if it fits in and looks good. I am building 4 other areas with fantasy and historical themes that I enjoy and have been intrigued by over the course of my life. You can't play a game like UO and make the RL friends that I have over the years and not say a game you played for well over 20 years did not have a influence or impact on your life
And while I no longer play UO and found it to be wanting in the latter few years, I still very much Love UO and my history with UO. It was the place I could escape from reality and relax for a hour or Month as needed. I never quit over the years but often had extended times away due to thing like being to deployed to crap hole places in the world where the closest thing to internet was a shortwave radio. And later working 20 hours per day March through October did not allow for much time for anything beyond sleeping and working again. So when I quit it was not a decision I made lightly but a decision I made with confidence and totality. But UO will always hold a place in my heart and memory.
Well I finished building the clay core of Ocrina Island in the North arm Pond this morning and guess I should get back to work shaping it.
To put in perspective what I have been up to since leaving UO.
And how I finish my days up now. Still A LOT of water to go before the main lake is filled
To those that still find joy and fun in Britania, hold onto it as long as you can and have fun!
