HONOR Virtue : Could the Gain message please display actual number ?

Especially towards the end when one is trying to make it to Knight of the Honor Virtue, gaining those last few dots can be a pain. The last dot can take forever.

Now, after each kill in fights where the enemy has been honored, a message displays saying that one has "Gained in Honor".

Would it be actually possible to change it to display the actual points we have gained and what we are still away from gaining a full blue dot ?

This would make it more possible for players to figure out the best targets they want to fight for Honor gains and also, most importantly, how much they are still far from becoming a Knight of Honor.

Or, make a scroll from within the Virtues Menue like we have for skills where it didplays where we actually are at as in regards the Virtues. In numbers that is.........

Thanks.

it's directly fame related, fight the top tier of fame creatures. for faster gain, fight the paragons of them. the final 3 dots are limited to creatures surpassing 18k fame.

knight of honor is overrated. not quite worth the effort if you actually use the ability instead of just wearing the title.

Instead of an exact number it would be better if it said the rough amount.

You have gained a lot of honor.
You have gained a good amount of honor.
You have gained some honor.
You have gained a little honor.
You gained no honor.

What is the Result you seek, Popps?

To be able to know PRECISELY when the moment that you will make Knight of Honor will occur?

One would need to make a few assumptions, however, to be able to code such a change:

1. The Devs would need to know what you are fighting, as the Fame will drive the amount of Honor you gain. Ogres will not get you there as fast as Succubi. Question: How will the program know? From the very last creature killed? Should YOU put in what you are killing, so the Program will know?

2. You would need to keep killing that creature to hit at the projected time. However, what will happen if you switch monsters? Should the program adapt on the fly to your hunting preferences, and keep updating the time it will take? Or should you have to continue to input the desired creatures to kill?

Now...Popps...if you ever do us all a favor, please start thinking in terms of Results.

Because...in this case...even after all of the Postulation and Assumptions...you will make Knight of Honor...

Wait for It...

Wait for It...

You will make Knight of Honor Precisely when...

You kill the last monster that has enough Fame to allow you to gain a Path in Honor.

So...that being said...why in the hell would the Devs spend time on telling you Precisly when you will make Knight?

Why, Precisely?

I know what the OP means. How many honors does it take to go from 5 to 6 dots? I know it depends on what you are killing and how high its fame is. Does your fame play any part in how much honor you get? Never hit 6 dots doing Swoop till the other day. Lost fame from event (16000+ to 4015). Was getting lots of Fame from Swoop and hit 6th dot at same time. So does lots of Fame mean lots of Honor?

How about adding Honor points to the Loyalty Rating Menu. This way we see how many points we have and how many points we get for that honor if any.

Not entirely true... Honour makes an enormous difference to Tamers after the hardest of companions, especially the Greater Dragon... as long as they don't need subduing. A creature that does will just heal itself back out of taming anyway, and then flag to you when you beat it down again, Honour or not. But otherwise, yup I love it on my tamer!

.. The code already knows and keeps track of this. It already has the numbers, otherwise, the code wouldn't work now, and no one would have ever gotten Knight of Honor.

It just doesn't tell you the numbers.

And, honestly, I can understand the request. The bubbles are vague - you never quite now just how you're progressing, and that uncertainty can be frustrating. When you are trying to strive for a goal, feedback from the system helps some people stay motivated and makes their effort feel rewarded.

I personally am striving to GM Imbuing solely through the filling of BoD's, gathering my own ingots, filling them, getting runic hammers, making things with them, and unraveling. I occasionally go out hunting and return with my junk loot, but not often. It's just the way I enjoy doing it.

With this system, I can see how many ingots I have, how many BoD's I have collected and filled, how many runic hammers I have, and have a good idea of how much material I can generate for imbuing. It's a system of numbers, and with every ingot I get, every bod I collect and fill, every point I get in imbuing, it makes me feel that sense of progression that I personally enjoy.

Imagine if you just dug things up all day, never knowing how many ingots you'd get. Sure, you' know your gaining more, but you're not sure how much. Suppose you don't know how many or what BoD's you have, sure you're collecting more over time, but you're not sure what and how many.

Actually, a better example is reputations. Would that being a bubble bar instead of numbers affected how hard you worked at it? Some say yes, others no.

The virtue system is opaque, when I think it should be a little more transparent. Yes, it's fine to know that you are always progressing and advancing so long as it tells you you've gained honor, but I can't tell you how many times I've sat there for hours, killing things, only to check my virtue, and not see it move one bubble, and then just throw my hands up because I have no idea what I'd gained after all that time.. It only makes it more discouraging.

This is in no way a commentary on goal setting, or enjoying the journey, or difficulty, or what have you. It's about feedback, or the virtue system's lack there of.

A lot of people do not know, or simply have forgotten having many years passed by now, that back in the days skills' gains increments were only shown by full digits, no decimals showed up.......

A lot of players complained because they felt they could not see any actual gains, advancements, and we got it changed so that decimals would show like we have today.

I see Virtues quite much similar as an issue...........

yes, but being a follower of honor is good enough for the most part. grinding to the knight rank only to embrace honor is pretty much a waste given the grind of high end monsters to reach that rank.

at knight of honor, you still gain honor on kills, which in some cases allows you to buffer for at least one use, but i've never capped honor, and i've kept knight of honor on a samurai for a few years, never embracing honor.

I agree with popps. It would be nice to know what exactly you're gaining when fighting, as its dependent on so many factors thats impossible to even approximate as a player.

We are already shown stats for fame and karma, why not virtues?

I still disagree on that; Many tamers like to try and tame the "perfect" pet, and anything which helps you get it is a god-send... and an even longer period of not having to worry about surrounding spawn, or accidentally killing it because you have to hobble it is just such a thing. Believe me, when the adrenaline is pumping because you've seen a 4.0+ Star pet, and it's in a spot where anyone walking by might see it, every second counts...

Now yes, grinding Balrons can be frustratingly slow for Knight it's true... but then I discovered the almost instantly respawning Fan Dancer Dojo Succubus, and that she doesn't like Cu Cold Damage, or Mare/Rune - Mare/Bane Fire & Poison & High melee damage up her... You'll get that last blob again from an Honor usage in about 40 minutes, and 70-90k gold too if you take a Bag of Sending. Lead her Ronin friend around the corner so he doesn't interfere, and kill a succubus every minute or so to go to Honor heaven.

Which ties back into the OP... Originally I would have really, REALLY wanted numeric values for honor gains, as I did days of Balrons waiting for that last bubble. At times, I was even tempted to think the virtue was broken entirely. So I understand that particular frustration, yes. Eventually however I found the above recommendation somewhere, having desperately googled solutions, and now I'm not that concerned about it any more, as I know Knight can be easily reached. However, I also do rather like being able to see my fame directly, and more of a good thing is always welcome I suppose...
