Can I post here without a moderator approving my posts? Have I become a marked man? Are my actions being monitored?

Can I please get a link to the new ToS? One would figure that if they are going to change the rules on everyon...er...members of one forum, they would at least let them know how things are going to be moving forward.

the standard Stratics TOS is in the FAQ link at the top of the page - just to the right of User CP. I guess for now y'all OTNHB folkses are here and gotta follow the rules.

Good luck!

Thats the thing though...where does it say that posts will be moderated before posting? Why are some posters able to post without moderation, and others (like myself) haven't had any posts posted in some of the forums?

Rules? No problem. Inconsistent rules that are not posted anywhere and aren't applied evenly across the board? Is this the new Stratics model for building a community?

While its literally the least of my concerns, my post count has been wiped, I can't post without moderation in some of the forums, and I am one of the more tame OT posters, by any measuring stick. I mean sure...if I was posting links to Google or something, I would understand, but I am innocent I tell ya!

the moderation was a clamp that was temporarily set to control all the ruckus from the other folks of OTNHB. Even this place was moderated for a while until things got cleared up.

It was ummmm, interesting - yeah, interesting ... yesterday for a while.

That "clamp" is affecting people who weren't even involved, and not affecting those who were. Then there is the post count resetting for some, and not others. It seems rather arbitrary to me, and the lack of any explanation on their part just seems unprofessional.

Well have fun with the new management, best keep your posts in line with the "new way".

To correct some misconceptions.
Locking down a board with the 'posts must be moderated' switch applies across the entire board. Not to individual posters.
I did that on UHall last night, because we just couldn't keep up with the post reports coming in. I had to put the brakes on so that we could sort it out. Then we pulled extra staff in to help approve the legit posts as fast as we possibly could. I returned the board to normal as soon as I could - then went to do some housework and came back to find extreme porn had been posted. I took the brakes off too soon it seems.

One would think that...
However, that is not the case. I tried making a few posts this morning, but none of them were getting posted, while others were making posts and having them show up immediately. So it appears that it is selective as to which people are getting banned from posting in forums and getting their post-counts stripped. If it is not selective, then by all means...kindly explain the discrepancy I am seeing. :)

Being moderated just means it will take time before it gets posted. People make posts, then they get reviewed. After passing moderation they are put into the board.

The new posts you saw are the ones that were posted quite a while before only to recently get approved and put into the forum.

So again, having the forum set in moderation mode doesn't mean posting is halted, just means posts have to be reviewed before allowing them to be posted in the forum.

So you are saying that the time stamps on them are for when they have been approved, and not when the poster made the post? Seems odd to me, but whatever...I guess I should be happy I am still graciously allowed the privilege of posting anywhere on Stratics.

Yes? The time stamp is the time it got placed into the forum. I posted yesterday when it was in moderation. Mine had to be reviewed like everyone else. Took a while before it got into the forum.

It's late for me, and I can only tell you how the software works. If the switch is thrown to set the board moderated all posts have to be approved.

I'm not sure who's moderating that board currently. My area of authority is only the uo section. My mods were approving posts as fast as they could and only blocking those which broke RoC.

Fair enough. I guess it was the time stamps that were throwing me. In other forums where they have this going on, the original creation time was what was displayed, not the "approved at" time.

It's likely a temporary thing.

This is all a conspiracy between EA and Stratics because EA is too cheap to advertise.

Allow me to do my bit.

The post counts were changed differently, because some posters had their post count artificially increased after the last reset, so when OT was removed, that post count didn't go anywhere, so they still have that.

Its an automatic adjustment.

That would explain why I have 17k instead of whatever it was before. I'm pretty sure it was well over 20k.

I've been told that this can be fixed. I'll bet Mags would do it - or Trillian, if she gets her admin badge back.

I'll check with Steb...he seems like he can get things done around here.
Heh. He's not in god-mode anymore, thankfully. Doesn't even have a staff account atm.

That's not entirely true.

I had made quite a few posts which didn't break the RoC that never got posted before I got banned. Which leads one to believe that they were denied simply because of who made the post.

Just saying.

Where were those posted? I can only speak for the mods in the uo instance, that's the only part where I have authority.

Several here in the "We're sorry. We screwed up." thread, some on other boards...some with an alt as well, but it really doesn't matter anymore anyway. Really, I don't know why I brought it up other than I'm just now reading this page for the first time since the malware/hack/whatever it was.

Checked it. You know a few posts were lost during the clean up of the iframes problem? Ironically that included George's first post about the problem. More info by pm :)
