It works just the same as it does against NPCs. HML, HSL, and HLL are not "true" leeches, since they do not take from the target and give to the wielder. They return mana, stamina, or hit points based on the damage done. The damage dealt in PvP is alot less than PvM, due to more stringent caps, lack of Slayer properties, no EoO, and others. Because you will do less damage, you will not gain as much back.

I do not run any leech on my ranged melee just because, its cut back by 50% But I do run more with hit spec's . My tought on this is simple.

Then lets say, I hit you with HML. If you hit your target for 50 damage with a 60% Hit Mana Leech weapon, you have a chance of recovering between 0 (50 * 40% * 1% = 0.2) and 12 (50 * 40% * 60%) mana. Not a good trade off IMO.

HLL is bout the same, If you hit your target for 50 damage with a 60% Hit Life Leech weapon, you have a chance of healing between 0 (50 * 30% * 1% = 0.15) and 9 (50 * 30% * 60%) hit points. Again not a good enuff trade off to use.
The hit spec's are 100% when they hit. So they(mages) run 70dci, do I run 50HLD or not? Nope I wont anymore cuz they are still at cap. I'll use more hit spec's . Dexxers are bout the same, but I do run with 50HLA. Now again if Im fighting a archer I'll check out the toons gear before attcking them just to see what wep I need to use so I can get the most outa my wep. Range melee has it better then melee because they can counter both HLD\HLA with imbued DCI\HCI 20\25. My Faction dismount tamer runs with a imbued HXB HCI\DCI 20 so when Im in the battle field Im at HCI\DCI 70.

The only leech IMO, that is any good in PvP is HSL. Has a percentage chance on each hit to convert 100% of the damage inflicted on the target into stamina for the wielder.
If you hit your target for 50 damage, you have a chance of regaining 50 stamina. Now again this is true only for melee not so good for ranged melee.
So for a ranged melee wep I'll imbue it like this, Comp Bow- Velocity 50.Balanced, DCI\HCI 20 and DI 10 or so, Velocity is,
physical damage is added for each tile between the attacker and the target when the arrow strikes (#tiles x3 - max 30 points), if the property is triggered. .

Ok I guess its time for me to grab a monster. I need to wake-up. Just getting kids off to school. Im gonna check this post out again cuz Im sure there are gonna be a few other posting on this. I hope this helps out.

I put HML on my PvP hatchets, mainly because I chain AI's. While you don't leech back a 'ton' of mana, it adds up and you might get an extra one or two AIs out of your dump.
