HLP isnt around much this summer..

Greetings! As our leader, Lord Paidric isnt around much any longer and Deothos left UO its pretty much me left. I feel very guilty how little I did this summer ..blaming RL and venors and the lack of spirit etc.. I need to figure out how to do when summer is ower. I also hope the devs promise of some treats for the youngs will be something good.

Saor guild used to do a great work adding most youngs to their guild. It was a huge task and they got owerhelmed for a while. I dont know if they have started to recruit again but I have not seen it.

What im hoping for is that other guilds could pick up a new or returning player a bit more often and act mentor for a while.
Some players will move to another guild when they know what they want ..pvp or rp etc.
Some will give up and leave for different reasons. Some will stay for long and be good members of your guild!
And all will remember the way they were treated when they arrived to this shard. Fond memories that might pull them back here if they didnt stay long this time.

We need the new players as much as they need us!

I know Rain Queen takes returning players to her guild , and some RP guilds are busy recruiting in Haven. If more guilds do the same we dont need to get oerloaded..for it keeps you busy for a while.

Also if you want to help the youngs straying around , tell them to look out for any Foxglove char and ill give them the adress to Paidrics exellent guide at http://haven.uosites.com and a good armour set put togeather from crafted and donated pieces , spellbook/weapon and a few runes in a runebook.

We always had great people on Europa helping us with donations (i still have lots to use im not asking for more ) and helping youngs as well . Ppl like T Hunter , Angel Inc , Dwarven Smithy and many others, you can see their marks on the young players armours.

What older players help the newcomers with, the time spent on advices and friendly chatting cant be ower estimated. And right now when HLP is not working properly, its more important than ever!

Thank you for your kind mention of my crafter Dwarven Smithy. Whilst I was actively crafting things I always dropped my surplus in Haven or dropped it in Caillachs chest for SAOR. I also drop decent stuff from Idocs too when it is too good to bin.

I do very little crafting these days but will continue to drop any surplus from when I do.

I havent seen Padraig for some time is he still active?.

Don't. HLP did a superb job of helping new folks, and will again I'm sure when life settles down for all the members, who have already done way more than most of us manage. There really is nothing at all for anyone involved to feel 'guilty' about!

Now it's down to the rest of us to remember we get as much from new people joining UO as they do....

Cail is offline now a bit, but she will be back. There has been a drop in acitivity in Saor now during summer, but it will get back up during autumn. Although probably not as busy as we were last year

I have now the power to add new members, but I don`t want to do it before I get the green light from Cail. Otherwise I might get a talking to, and that is scary !

Good to hear Serafi! What Saor has done for new players is amazing! It was great thoose days I could tell the youngs to look out for the Saor tag and give them the recruiting book. And back when Cail used ICQ I could call her and she instantly came to Haven and took care of the young who wanted eagerly to join a guild.

What HLP do is normally just equipping and advicing. Taking someone out adventuring a bit is something we always dremt of but seldom had time for. Its heartwarming when you see someone come to Haven and pick up a young for some ettin hunting in Despice or make a shopping trip to equip someone we have missed. The more ppl involved in this the better!

I tend to be semi-afk alot of the time, and the smallish sections of sitting down and playing I tend to spend off hunting.... But that aside, over the last 3 or 4 weeks I think I've equipped around 25 toons with the [young] tag, usually make them a bag of 3 sets of armor, selection of weapons for warriors / spell book for casters, and 50k or so cash for horses and whatnot (I used to go through about 20 horses a day when I first started )

Not my books. But someone use to place books called "Welcome to UO" in Haven with the web adress to Paidrics guide, Stratics , and some other useful sites plus some RP forums. Good job whoever it is!

Nope not guilded, havent been sice I returned this time, dont think I joined a guild on my last return (03-04) either. First time around I was with T0P with a few buddies, and co-founded a pvp guild (S0S) back in 99 or so. Looked at pvp now and I dont like it tbh, too many.. shall we say suspicious stuff going on

*grins* I'm back! We just got back from a six day camping trip, and the week before that my parents were here. Real life has been horrendously busy these last few months, which has, unfortunately, reduced my playtime drastically.

I put a stop to recruitment in the guild because we simply had far too many people, a lot of whom would become inactive a couple of weeks after starting to play, and we needed some time to settle down again. I'm cautiously in favour of taking some more folks, as long as Serafi doesn't mind getting them on their feet. I'm going to be a on a reduced playtime until autumn here, when I should be able to log in more often again
