hit area physical

Hey there,

Well I've pounded out alot of weapons but this is a first. I cooked off a verite hammer last night and came up with a leaf blade that was basically
HLL 62%
HML 53%
Hit area physical 48%

The first two are pretty obvious but what exactly will hit area physical do for me? 48% of the swing damage will be applied to all the critters in range? Does it apply to the single target being hit?

(and something in the back of my mind tells me I shouldn't be in a group fighting changlings...)

thanks.

edit: had 62 on the brain. Thanks, I found the properties link again about 10 seconds after I posted

Hit Physical Area
Intensity Range: 2 - 50
Found On: Weapons

A weapon with Hit Physical Area will have a percentage chance on each hit to inflict a small amount of physical damage on all hostile creatures within a 5 tile range.

Don't believe the "all hostile" phrase. If a Wandering Healer is within range (normally non-hostile) they will also be damaged and will then attack.

Paladin spell Holy Light allegedly damages all enemies within range ... which also includes Wandering Healers!

In area effect damage, and HL at least, there really needs to be discrimination set to match the descriptions.
