Trying to get all the hiryu colors is nuts.

Been taming these things now for four days and got almost every color but the strong green and the strong purple.

A real life friend wanted to see if i could find all the colors by taming them.

Sheesh it takes a very long time.

I have been lead taming them and recalling to get them to respawn.

Is there a faster way of doing this?

thx ec

if you are working alone that is the fastest way. I can tame and recall and release faster then I could kill them working alone with no pet.

Tame one of them, recall away and back, then use your tamed one to keep killing the fresh ones. Once a coloured one spawns, run a few screens and release, then run back to tame the coloured one.

What I do is this,

Step 1, I round up all the Elite Ninja's and the Caster Things and lead them down to the Point by the mob that is normaly down there. This may take a few trips to get them all ... hum, looking at new scenery.

Step 2, I get my Greater Dragon, and then just start runing around, find the Hiryu, lore it, evaluate it etc, if I want it, I darn near kill it, then gate the GD back to the stables (Serpents Hold), then tame the Hiryu.

If it is not one I want then I have the GD Kill it, loot it and if I am into collecting leather, skin it and make piles of leather to come back for later.

I would estimate that on average, I can get a color one every 15 minutes, + / - 5 minutes.

Send severl hundreds of thousands gold to the bank and well ... have a ton of leather to cut up.

First, like Enigma, I round up all other aggressive monsters and lure them away from the Hiryu spawns. Then I bring my Cu Sidhe and discord the Hiryus and kill them until I find a color I like. If you don't have discord use a G. Dragon to kill them.

Also a side note: If you try taming all Cu Sidhe colors, expect to spend a looooooooooooooooooong time in the Weald lol.

Here is my question.

I started to tame them yesterday.

I was taming in Hiryu Forest in Totoko Island north of the Isamu whatever moongate. There are only three spawns in this area, going too far north you will start seeing wolves, far south u get into this spider area. The 3 hiryu spawn rather slow and they spawn in this entire forest, so I don't know how you guys can tame so fast.

Is there anywhere else that has more spawns?

Use scissors and target the hides. You'll get the needs to be in backpack message. Grab the pile and hold on your cursor. Hit last object macro (scissors) and then hit last target macro (hides). This will make the entire uncut pile pop into your backpack. Works the same on logs with an axe.

Using this Map (this area is west and south of the Sleeping Dragon Champion Spawn)

http://uo.stratics.com/database/view.php?db_content=atlas&id=1433

Identify the Building and the Ruins south and west of the Building.

These identify the East Edge of my route.

See the Grassy Coast line on the west. That is the Western Edge of my route.

See the mtn/rock on the north (goes to the Coast with a 1 tile walk way. That is the Northern Edge of the Route.

See the Ruin on the south west side. That is the south edge of my route.

Start at the tree near the mtn, coast on the north.

Run south and west along the tree line, looking for the Hiryu that spawns here.

As you approach the Ruin, you will see in the RADAR what is kind of maybe a path to cut south and east to south of the Ruin. Take that path and go south and a few squares east of the Ruin. Now head back north.

Go north about 3 or 4 squares north of the ruin, then head back through the trees (west).

Head north along the Tree line to the starting point.

In short the Hiryu will always spawn along that route. On occasion it may spawn a bit east in the trees, but you should see the name show up as your running. I just pull it back to the coast/grassy area.

Now when I do find one I want to tame, I get it to follow me and my GD on up north along the coast past the Starting point. As you go north, you will notice there is a MTN that provides a rather nice doughnut shaped (The MTN is the center) walk way. I use the GD to beat the Hiryu to near death (or alternatively use peacemaking). Run far enough away to open a gate to Serpents Hold Stables and stable the GD.

I DO NOT get on my Poof Mount as I have been told the Hiryu is given a movement bonus vs Mounted people.

I then proceed to Lead Tame it.

Anything I do not want I Kill, loot and skin.

This sounds more or less like a variation on the old trick of moving unlimited weight through a Gate. Be were the heavy object is, open a Gate to were you want to go, dbl click the gate, wait, walk back through the gate, pick up the infinite weight, hit the use last object to go back through the gate, with the infinite weight. To bad they removed that ability ... in a hope and a prayer that it would slow down the House Looters.

*Shrug*

If I want the leather I send my Stealther to go round up the mini piles and walk the big pile north to a safe spot, go get my blue beetle, cut every thing up and put in the Beetle. Take the Beetle home and empty it. Rinse and repeat as needed.

So far I have had some success. Seems like the route I was running in was the route you took Enigma. Maybe I was just impatient but even running along those 3 sections, north costline, ruin area and the woods next to the mountain down east, it is still kinda frustrating to consistently go at them.

I have tamed a 4 star hiryu but after that I wonder what the purpose of taming a high quality hiryu vs just a pure colored one. It is not like I would ever hunt with a hiryu anyway, GD just beats all the competition. For other situation I got my mare beetle or bake combos. So now I just tame whatever colored ones that I like and kill all normal hiryus. Seems like killing freshs pawn right when they spawn is a kinda good way to go at this since a lot of times if I kill the fresh spawn another one would spawn in very close range almost immediately. Usually it takes longer when they don't spawn at the same point anymore and then I have to run around to find them.

I have had a light green, a light cyan (this one is somewhat rare, it is 0.23% and I really like it a lot), and a sky blue. If i can get a strong purple and a blue/yellow, maybe a strong green I think I Am done with the colored hiryus. The rest don't seem to be that nice looking.

Just on a different note, I honestly don't know how people deal with 2d client lol don't mean to be insulting or anything. I guess it is the tradition and that classic feeling. But I logged on my 2d client yesterady to just see how hiryu looks, and the graphic and movement was horrific. Chat/macro, targeting, character summarization were just so difficult. I guess more power to the people who do not only deal with this but excel their game play under such harsh condition. I just hope they can perfect the SA client since I really do like it a lot.

I feel the same about the enhanced client =]

Well guys i think i am going to give up on the strong green hiryu:( :(

I know i have tamed 500 or more of these darn things and no strong green.

I did get a strong purple to spawn. So my friend will win because he bet me that i would not be able to tame all the colors.

He may be right because the darn strong green will not pop. argg

i lead tame them also seems to be faster then killing them.

I feel your pain :)

I have had the Strong Green and Purple and Blue etc.

I may have had all the colors spawn by now, I was looking for getting the best color Hiryu I could, one on each account.

They will all spawn .... eventualy.
