If they did that, what I'd like to see is an ability to change out the sail to a Magical Etherial Sail.
And with adding the ability to change sails, then add decorative sails for some choices.
Then add the ability for players to make their own decal, and buy the ability to put it in game, adjusted for slant like paintings were from RL paintings.
Then add the same ability to purchase your own designed flags and banners for houses, guild headquarters, player cities.
If that were possible, UO could charge a pretty penny to do it, with minimal work on their part. And they'd sell, I have no doubt about that.
Thats a very interesting concept, I love the idea of being able to choose a sail, or flag for your ship to set it apart, and customize it.
Could you imagine the decals people would design however?
Pornography ect. I woudlnt want to see adds in UO tacked up everywhere, or pornography pn the sides of homes, or **** sails. lol
Theoretically it wouldn't be to hard just to keep it with in-game stuff, and still have a very broad choice.
For example, have the flags/sails have the following choices:
1. Middle-of-sail markings
a. Faction-related insignia.
b. Kingdom-related insignia.
c. Any option currently available as a Banner Deed (requiring dying before applying the marking to the sail).
2. Flags
a, b, c: As sail markings
3. Actual Sail background color
a. Dyeable by any cloth-capable dye tub.
b. Use of original ToT dyes requires 10 uses on the bottle (all 10 are consumed in the dying).
c. ToT3 Dyes (and the ToT2 1-shot minors) and natural dyes would require an Alchemy/glassblowing equivalent of a scrollbinder, to combine 10 dyes together for the job (which itself would be useful for consolidating the ToT3 dyes to free up space in houses).
I bet Grimm would have a field day working on this, if he could find a programmer to assist on the system aspects.
