Hiding Seriously?

WTF, i'm making a new thief char and currently have hiding at 96ish and am only gaining mabey .1 an hour with 150 skill points on this toon (96 hiding and 55 ninja). I've tried in town, in the wilderness, Tram, Fel, yada yada yada. I don't think it should only take 3-4 hours to GM, but at this rate I'm still a week out at 8 hours a day. And before someone comes up with it i'm not jamming a key and comming back hours later to a GM toon. My luck I would come back to a jail cell and 48hrs or longer off. Lastly, yes suicide has been done.

I would be interested to know the best way to gain Hiding as well... i'm around 91 hiding, and haven't been able to gain much of anything on it. What's the trick to gaining this?

I found training hiding alone was a pain, but training stealth and gaining hiding at the same time was much easier. Are you training stealth?

Stealth is done. At least where I need it to be. Moved it off to a stone.

my suggestion would be to put stealth back on, locked, and go for some nice stealthy walks around the roads of Brit, getting a hiding check every few paces.

So just stealthing around will work on hiding as well? Nice... didn't know that. I mean I know it "auto-resealths" (I remember when it didn't do this!) when you near the end of your steps... but I didn't know it was doing a hiding check too! Nice!

Looks like stealth is the key. Went from 96 to over 98 in two hours training stealth again as I still need it trained up one more time. 40 to 60 in stealth in the same time frame. Thanks Petra...

I often train multiple skills at once, I find it works better for me, especially if they're skills that are meant to work together. I trained hiding, stealth and ninja by throwing in some shadow jumps along with those walks.
When I got past the stage where shadow jump would gain (about 80 when wearing studded) I used a mage weapon to kill lizard men ( I made a mage weapon butcher's war cleaver) ki attack and then death strike. This got me ninja and magery gains and a nice stock of spined leather. My ninja has no weapon skill.

I pretty much relied on GGS for the last 2 - 4% of hiding.

I was so busy training stealth, and then stealthing to train ninja, that I never really noticed training hiding, it just went up while I was doing something else. Bit like training animal lore with vet & tame and medi with magery.

I found the best way to train hiding (and stealth for that matter) is by shadow jumping a lot. With shadow jump you get 3 skill checks: first ninjitsu when you use the ability, then hiding and stealth when you 'land'.
The main advantage of using shadow jump to train hiding is that instead of the skill-timer, mana becomes the limiting factor. And while there is nothing you can (legally) do to shorten the skill-timer, you can do something about mana!
More skill-checks = faster gains.

What is the easiest way to get some Studded Leather? I am wearing Horned Leather, but that doesn't seem to be working for raising stealth. It hasn't moved in months. And I don't want to spend 10k on a simple studded leather outfit. Is there a NPC vendor that just sells the stuff? Or do I need to find a tailor?

npc armorer sells them, or at least some of them do. Might have to check a few.
