Hello fellow Siegeians,
first of all, I want to say thank you to all of you who gave me such a warm welcome on Siege! And there are so many, that I cannot list them all here. You Sirs and Ladies were wonderful to me! Thank you! I think, Freja´s PR-attack on Stratics is quite successful as I have seen many players taking a chance on that miraculous place.
Honestly, as a hardcore trammie with the life of a fat Hobbit, I could have never imagined to live here. But if there was one thing that really annoyed me: the item-based playstyle of the prodo-shards and the completely insane economy. It´s simply a relief to see, that hunting all the old places on Siege makes perfectly sense - aswell as farming resources and gathering gold and loot. Life here is "normal" as it should be, not focused on insanely overpriced high-end-stuff and the collection of rare and uber-rare pixels that nobody needs. I feel much better now and play the game as it was meant to be.
However, one thing still annoys me: There are too many housing spots filled with ugly houses that nobody visits. I travelled around with my boat for some weeks to find all the lovely spots and learned, that the shard is quite full... That woke ambition in me: After I placed a lovely home right in the center of Safe Haven - which turned out as the perfect spot for starting on Siege and getting in touch to some lovely and decent folks, I decided to open a Pirate Retreat and Bar on the shores of somewhere. First I placed a 11x15 house at the most southern end of Britannia (the "Florida" of the continent) - but the house was small and there was ugly spawn following me every day (Dark Whisps IN MY HOUSE!!!).
One lovely day, Mr. Tyrath saw me sailing at his shores and he wrote about that somewhere. I contacted him and told him that I would love to build my second house on an Island. He showed me some places (my first preference were some Tokuno Islands but guess what: FULL!). And we landed on Crescent Island. Two nice spots we found there, but old IDOC-remnants were blocking the place. Mr. Tyrath sailed back to his home - and I contacted a GM, who showed up about 2 min after I paged him! (Who ever says, they never show up, never react, never help: That´s nonsense! In my 10 years in UO I paged 3 x GMs and 2 x Mesanna herself and in all 5 situations I got exactly the help I asked for!).
After he deleted those three Little statues on the ground he bowed to me and went away. "Fine spot for housing!", he said - and "Puff!" Gone!
Finally, I placed a 13x16 house which is quite large enough for my purposes. And here now is the result (@Freja, the surprise ;-) Can you find the bear you gave me?):

It´s not perfect as I can always use more deco, banners for example, loot, ropes, anchors, maritime stuff etc. But I am planning to stay here for longer!
So, if you want to come by for a mug of rhum or a bottle of ale, you are warmly welcome. The house is public, only the private rooms are accessible exclusively to friends. Maybe some of you feel now invited to come and PK me, because I am publicly announcing the opening of my bar - but that does not matter. I am not carrying around valuable stuff
