Help with thief template on siege

I'm going for a town/dungeon thief. The main concern I have is that I only have one account, and would like to keep it that way. With that in mind, should I try to squeeze on a crafting skill in order to make some money? I'd really like to have alchemy on my template but starting off with no money, alchemy isn't the easiest skill to raise..

100 stealing, 100 snooping, 100 hiding, 75 stealth is a must for me, personally.

Other than that, I'd really like to have some ninjitsu, the rest is up for discussion, on my other thief I have 120 fencing, which is nice for shadow strike and defensive purposes.

What skills should I choose? And how can I make money with this character? Thanks for your input!

Actually i'm doing something similar. I only wanted one account and so when I started to build up my core skills ironically for me Stealing wasn't my first choice to raise Hiding, stealth, and Ninjitsu were though. I agree you may want to add a crafting skill or 2 to help break up the monotony. I went for bowerycraft myself but alchemy wouldn't be a bad choice you could make your own poison and I'd recommend Lumberjacking because as a GM LJ I've found ingredients to make darkglow and parasitic poison quite easily after I made GM. Just a thought....

Alchemy and poisoning. If you use fencing, you can poison your own weapons and make some coin killing critters. Then you can sell their leather for some extra cash. Alchemy give you bonuses for using pots...including greater explosion pots >:| !!! In addition to this, if you can find a tinler to supply you with kegs, you can have a nice littler vendor to sell the potions to the local pvpers...la

Thanks for the replies! That sounds exactly like the template I would like to run. Starting off without really any money, will I be able to afford training these skills? I've GM'd poisoning and alchemy on production shards and it was quite expensive (as far as raising skills goes). I know the RoT system should help, but still, will I be able to get enough money to train these skills?

Also, without room for ninjitsu, after stealing from someone, what will be a good way of disappearing? Will hitting with shadowstrike work immediately after stealing from players? I've tried it against monsters and it worked, but the few times I've tried against players it didn't seem to work right. With only a 705 skill cap, here's a rough idea for my template. I'd be an elf for the extra 20 mana and reveal purposes.

120 fencing
100 snooping
100 stealing
100 hiding
75 stealth
100 alchemy
100 poisoning

10 points left over, maybe put them into stealth?

125 dex
80 str
30 int

Hmmm,

My thoughts,

A) poisoning is only needed at 80 so that can give you a few more points to play with.

B) maybe you should think of dropping alchemy for 90tactics (i know the 30% of alchy is nice i use it on prodo) this will allow you to infecting strike and ar ignore as you cant fit ninja no shurikens or smoke bombs :(

C) if you go 90 tactics 80 poisoning put the 40 left in spellweaving, this will give you another defence (attunement, gift of life) and another awesome lil attack (pixies!!!!)

or

D) rethink the whole template and get ninja in there for deathstrike, animal form, DP shurikens and smoke bombs.

Edit: you should try to get another 5 points from somewhere for stealth. You need 80 for shadow strike.

Thanks Rich! Completely forgot about the 80 points needed for shadowstrike, the only reason I'd really like alchemy is because poisoning seems gets pretty expensive to train, guess not as bad with RoT though. Making all of my potions is also nice though. However, your option C is really standing out to me. Too many decisions for just on character, I'm going crazy..

Use alchemy to train up your poisoning, once you have enough GP kegs, you can stone alchemy for another time if you want to play another template. Right now soul stone tokens are selling between 2 and 3 million on Siege...la

Yeah, definitely think I'm gonna need a couple soulstones, even 2-3 million dollars for a new character, especially with my template, that just doesn't sound very possible to raise...Any suggestions/words of advice on that?

Get your stealing and snooping up quickly. :)

Someone just recently posted their first steal on siege...a 120 archery scroll. That would probably get one close to that amount...la

Check with Chad, THIEF usually is recruiting. I have moved into someone elses guild to play as a faction thief. I find most (especially new thieves) aren't too keen on playing factions...la

Remember theres no recalling on siege, so be prepared for a lot of running about if you dont take magery.

Looking at the alchemy template you've posted, i'd basically just swap alchemy for magery (useful for gating, healing, and invis)- dont worry bout your missing 5 points in stealth, just pick up a burglars bandana, and use any excess skill points to up stealing to 120.

The template without poisoning is more than enough to make money, so just skill up poisoning last, when your running at a profit (which shouldnt be very long)
