Help with imbuing armor

So I read all the imbue FAQs and stractics info but cannot find info on the following:

Lets say I want to imbue a lot of resists on a piece of armor.

First, can it only be spined, barbed, horned, and reg leather (to be able to use magery). I suppose fey also.

Second, lets say I get a nice piece of exceptional legs that not yet imbued but have maybe mana regen 1, resists: for arguements sake
Phys 20
Fire 20
Cold 20
Poi 20
En 20

What is the most I can add of each resist, still add 15% for each?

so the piece would then be (if that were possible)
phys 35
Fire 35
Cold 35
Poi 35
En 35

Is there a maximum ceiling to total resists or resist per category (ie fire)?

Thanks in advance, I can't seem to find any info on imbuing over and above existing properties on existing items.

I sholud note that I want to know all of this to ask an imbuer for specific properties and not because I want to (or can) do it myself.

Exceptional bonus and imbued resists do not stack. Only the base resists stack w imbuing, unless you are willing to go the imbue then enhance route, then you get the enhancement bonus.

for instance leather armor:
2/4/3/3/3-base

exc made like:
12/4/9/7/3

imbued (+15 all resists) would do:
17/19/18/18/18

enhancing the item w barbed (successfully) would render:
19/20/20/21/22

Thanks for the answer Kim Li!

OK jsut to clarify: as I understand it...

You cant stack imbuing on exceptional bonuses so I should imbue a piece of armor first and then make it exceptional.

I have this piece of armor and thought it would be a good start to imbue now:

Leather Armor (it doesnt say exceptional anywhere so I assume its just reg leather armor because the name is just 'Leather Armor'

Stats:
Mana Incr 7
Mana Regen 2
Phys 2
Fire 17
Cold 3
POi 16
En 14
Dur 37/37

So I can add 5 resist times 15% on top of these resist stats?

it would then be
Mana inc 7
Mana regen 2
Phys 17
Fire 32
Cold 18
Poi 31
En 29

that right?

Then I would get it made exceptional afterwords for a total random exceptional bonus of 15% to resists divided randomly?

I must be doing something wrong here, those seem like awfully high resists. :sad3:

There is a weight limit to imbuing and you will likley only be able to imbue a suit that has MR and MI with 3 resists. You make it , add fortification powder then imbue it then enhance it. If you enhance it last the resist will be higher if it doesn't go poof.

The total number of magical properties is 5. Once there are 5 properties you cannot imbue more properties onto it. (though you could change existing properties unless you dont exceed the limit of total weighted intensities. You can have weighted intensities up to 500 on exceptional pieces/jewelry or 450 on non-exceptional pieces.)
There is no way of improving a normal piece into an exceptional one. Items becoming exceptional when they are crafted from a player with high skill. (Though it doesnt need that much skill to get exceptional leather amour parts.)

No ... that piece already looks to me, if it has 5 properties on it. So you cannot ad another. If you try to increase one of the already increased resistances, you actually 'overwrite' the excisting bonus with your imbued value and dont add to it.

Then I would get it made exceptional afterwords for a total random exceptional bonus of 15% to resists divided randomly?
As previously mentioned .... an item starts exceptional or it will stay at plain quality. (Usually those are looted items. You can try to enhance such an item with special leather to add a material bonus to it but you risk to break/destroy the item in that process.)

I make 100% LRC all 70's Resists Armor that I sell on a vendor.

How I make it is:

1) My Tailor makes three sets of armor from Barbed Leather
.
2) My Imbuer imbues the first piece of armor with LRC 17%, then uses 'Imbue Last Propertry' and copies the LRC 17% to the other seventeen pieces. Each set of armor now has LRC 17% x 6 = 102% LRC.

3) I then grab an index card and list T, L, S, G, GO, & H down the left side ( Tunic, Legs, etc) and then write the resists each piece has in columns. Physical, Fire, etc) after the appropiate item letter. Adding each column up gives you the total of each resist the armor set has.

(Note: If you try and use the 'Imbue Last Property' option to do the same imbuing to more than one piece and get a "You can't do that to this" flavor message, just go up to 'Imbue Item' and do it manually. For some reason the 'Imbue last Property' function fails on occasion.)

4) Say Physical totaled up to 48. You want at least 70, or 85 if you plan on using the Protection spell which drops Physical down. Go down the list of armor pieces and find the lowest Physical resist number. Then select 'Imbue Item', that armor piece, and see how high you can raise the number without using Boura pelts. This will be from 13 to 20. (This isn't added to what the number was, the number becomes this.) Say the number the armor piece had was 4 and the Imbue will raise it to 17. This will increase that total of 48 Physical the armor set had by 13 ( 17-4=13) bringing it up to 61. Raise the Physical number on other pieces in the armor set until you get the set total Physical resist to 70, or 85, as desired. Each item can only have five different imbuings done to it. You can go back and adjust an imbuing to a different number, but 5 different imbuings is all it can take.

(Note: with jewelry you have five sets of skills. You can only have one skill from each set on a piece of jewelry. Trying to add another will replace the prior skill on thr jewelry item.)

5) Once you have the armor set resist values up where you want them, you can now add in extras like Mana Regeneration to the armor pieces until all five imbuing spots in each piece are full.

Powder of Fortification will add 10 durability per use to an item you plan to imbue ( *Must be done BEFORE imbuing the item*) but runs about 30, 000 gold per use. I can make a fully packed armor set ( no special items used, just residue, essense, and regular gems) for about 40,000 gold in materials. Unless you use pricy special materials to get a couple more points of a resist or skill, it's not worth using Powder of Fortification. Just remake the armor a couple times a year.
