help on build

Hello All

I am loking into making my warrior, i have looked through the templates i could find on the forum. Firstly it seems that necro chiv and bushido are the 3 casting skills most found.

first off i have a couple questions
1: why does it not seem like anyone uses macing?
2:why not GM chivalry on most of the temps i see
3:how effective is SW on a warrior template?

initial build idea would be similar to;

Macing GM
Tactics GM
Bushido GM
Parry GM
Anat GM
Chiv GM
SW GM

on second thought, i should probably stick healing in their too(would chiv, bushido, and SW be enough to keep me up?)

I dont really have much monies hence all the GM's but when i could id plan on upping some skill.

critiques and inputs???

Until very recently there really was no benefit to putting on more chiv then 70. With that being changed I am willing to bet there will be new temps but they are not out yet. Weaving can be a useful addition but as always you have to watch your mana there. Macing can be very useful and I know a few friends that rule with their blackstaves I just think that its more common for folks to use either swords or fencing for melee due to the speed and the number of artifact swords. Personally I like having healing on my dexers but there are ways around it. Theoretically you can use heals with chiv and SW not to mention pots but I tend to not be fast enough to pull that off.

hmm, what if i were to do something like this??

Weapon
Anat
Necro +SS for wraith mana regen
Healing
Bushido
SW
Focs or med

questions for this setup
1. would not having tactics still allow me good damage
2. how nexessary is parry with the melee bushido?
3. would taking out the focus or med for tactics serve me better if i was decent at managng mana and regeneing with wrait?

attempt for mid intel high STR and dex

PS: i know test shard is for testing this stuff, but instead of doing that and getting a skewed idea of what im capable with(due to high end items and me being the only one looking at it) but i still feel like people experience is better information

Actually if you run the necro there is no need for healing. At that point your a whammie. You can use curse weapon and with high ss you can add that and get a good leech. Plus with Confidence heals and ss heals you should be golden. For the record that is a really fun template to play. It does take some work and studying but I think it is well worth. One of my favorite characters is a whammie sammie hybrid. Also make sure you get a weapon with good mana leech focus and med are nice but mana leech is always faster. Mana Regen on your suit can also be a huge bonus and can save you the skill points.

I believe you can get 120 Mace PS for 300k or even chipper and it is the most important skill to get to 120 in your template.

I don't like the idea to heal with chivalry for a melee char. Well, you can try if a mage cast protection on you...

I think you will not get enough mana for special move + chivalry + SW. Also you can't start with SW. It seems you get to Legendary Mace before you even get this SW book.

1. 25% less damage
2. I believe if you are going to fight vs more than 1 monster at the same time than parry is must for a melee char. IMHO Bushido is pretty useless without parry in the most situations.
3. My young char has 100 focus, 100 med and 2MR as garg. Without ML it's not enough for AI even with slow (4s) weapon.

You need a minimum of 90 tactics and weapon skill to be able to do both primary and secondary special moves. The general wisdom is to use weapons with HML (hit mana leech) on them. The more damage you do, the more you will leech. Wraith form will leech as long as the target has mana in its pool. HML works regardless what your target has in its pool.

I don't run parry but find bushido is an irreplaceable skill nonetheless. The aspects I use frequently are honoring opponents for damage bonus on successive hits and a mana/stam replenish when the target dies, momentum strike, and confidence.

Good advice here.. (i.e. having healing)

But I wanted to show my support for macing!! I have a Warrior that is pure Macing. I don't switch our for fencing swords or basket-weaving. It is what it is.

His info as it stands right now (WIP) (Keep in mind this account is only 2 years old so I only get the 710 vs. 720)

120 Macing
120 Parry
120 Tact
120 Anat
97 Bush (120 is goal in time)
90 Healing
71 Chiv (atm)

Bracelet is helping me out atm due to younger account skill shortage.

Nevertheless I hold my own with him at events, spawns, and even the occasional spunky red.

I used to play a sampire for a long time. One thing you have to understand is the Sampire style takes a bit to learn. you will find that you will die a lot before you start becoming un-killable at pvm. It is just one of those things where you have to learn what works and what doesn't. I personally think you can have all the right skills and gear, but you will die quickly without the proper execution of the sampire style abilities. Additionally, I found it is more for the solo fighter than a team fighter as you can not heal others effectively.

With that in mind....I have long been wanting to make a viable shield fighter, and now with the new healing changes I think it is possible. Keep in mind a sampire is probably still the best warrior template to use if you are looking to being able to head into a massive pile of mobs, or soloing high-end bosses. However, if you are looking for the more traditional warrior then maybe my beta template will help.

Currently, I have been working on a new template since the healing and chivalry change. Basically, you now have the ability to cure and heal with a single bandage use. In addition, chivalry spells are now based off karma level and chivalry skill. I also want to take advantage of the shield slot. Plus, I miss using shields :) There is a shield fighter in the guild I belong to who I have been testing out various gear and weapons on. I have found he is doing exceptionally well at champ spawns and other high-end mobs without the use of vamp form or bushido.

Here is what I am currently considering: (720 skill cap)

120 swords
120 parry
120 tactics
120 resist
120 anatomy
110 or 120 Healing
80 or 90 chivalry

This is based off including 80 points from items. I have not yet done enough research to determine if having 120 healing and 80 chivalry, or 110 healing and 90 chivalry is best. I know you do not have the gold to reach these caps, but in time you will, or might find a group of adventurers that hunt in fell. I will be using broadswords and radiant scimitars since I already have a huge stock from my sampire days. I have found these two weapons to be a lot of fun. I will post more when I get around to completing and testing him.

Is 110 Healing and 90 Chivalry better than 90 Healing and 110 Chivalry?

Does it worth to get Tactics to 120?
100 + (120/1.6 + 5) + (120/2 + 5) + (125*0.3 + 5) + 100 = 387.5
The difference between 100 and 120 Tactics is about 3.2%. (12.5/387.5)

110 Healing and 90 Chiv is much much better then 110 Chiv and 90 healing.

thanks all, your insights have been greatly helpful.

i actually have found a group of people to hunt with, so having the uber solo PVM temp.

after looking at all the info available, i kinda dont want to do the cookie cutter sampire, since its cookie cutter and not usually my fav thing to do. to say nothing of caring about karma level.

thus far ive been working on a template like this;

Mace 120
Anat 100
Healing 100
Tactic 90
Parry 120
Bushido 120
Resist 50

only reason for the 50 in resist is thats all thats left after the others are said and done, if i find i dont need such high points in another skill, ill drop it in favor of resist likely. but im not sure what optimum ratios are for parry/bush and heal/anat.

A big difference is in healing, but there are also timer issues for how quick you can get off a heal. Not to mention the amount of damage that you heal with each one. Enhanced bandies will give you a boost, but still I find a big difference between 85 and GM, and I am finding a bigger one between 100 and 110.

I believe healing speed doesn't depend on your healing skill. As I've read on this site it depends on your dex only.

Damage healed (for 100 antomy):
80: 33-56
90: 34-58
100: 36-60
110: 38-61
As to me the difference is not so large.

Did I miss something? My be the last patch has changed this?

There is a combination effect was the last thing I read. Of course there is a damage difference and that can be a big one.

Healing speed is only affected by Dex. At 140 dex you have 4s heals.
