I am seeking ideas on creating a fishing & tropical themed castle. This is easy to do with a custom house, but a creating a fishing themed castle has me stumped. Thanks in advance!

Well I would like to thank everyone for kind words and helpful advise. Unfortunately I've temporarily stopped working on the decorating but I hope to start again in the near future. :)

Tropical theme could be done on the roofs, do green gozas, no borders for the top of the roof as grass. Dig up sand to make a beach area....

I've got a huge idea in my head.....palm trees, if you have any of the rarer coconut/date trees from rubble.....

Could also use the seashells from shipwreck on the roof on top of sand for the display.

Downstairs could be a fish tank lining walls, or perhaps the corridors of the outer walls could be made to be lined with a fish tank(like the ones made with cloth) (tho that would be a lot of lock downs, all things considered)....

Nets, a loom and a spinning will could be used in a room of the castle to make it look like a net making room.... Another could be a fish smoking room....

If you can get your hands on any of the boat rubble, perhaps a repair shop.. or maybe a "model boat" making area with carpentry etc.. have the minor HMS model and the toy boat to use in support as well using normal boats.

I like the boat manufacturing idea for a room, the halls could be focussed on aquariums and fish collection, old school shipwreck items, along with the various colored nets. hertitage nets for walls is a must, and a cute way to display shells if you don't want em on the floor. If you have a seahorse set, make a large cloth or goza fish tank to display those with your origami red fish and large shells from tank rewards. I once had sushi preparations and fish steaks on "ice" (crystal shards) in a fish market type setting. I also like a small room for the mapmaker, a study-like environment with possible bookshelves of treasure map locals or local big fish tales, a tattered wall map or map of the worls on the wall, fish trophies, ship models on top of bookcase, a desk with the collectable scope, sextant, that blue map from tokens, fishing weight rare, dread pirate hat, rare fishing poles.

Whew.think thats it for now

nope i forgot about the rubble piers...and ropes sitting on those piers...be a nice touch on roofs. For a touch of museum-like classy, you can use the snow sculture seahorses and mermaids too, or a marble sculpture of Captain BlueBeard :)

For sandy areas use the borderless goza mats (the last option in the Misc menu), just the undyed cloth color would be nice or maybe a little yellower, then do the edges with plants and other beach type things. If you're feeling really creative and have a big area to fill you could do a sand castle out of stacked goza mats, throw a bunch of dug up sand and buckets and shovels around. That would be a fun project! You can use the gozas for water as well, but might want to do blue fishing nets instead (or something else more watery looking). The boat rubble would make good decor, also of course ropes and pulleys etc.

Could do a big pile of rocks then have a ship wreck on it, then have treasure or fish spilling out, and fishing nets here and there (the heritage token ones would be nice). And of course bones and poles. I'd probably try to do up a sharks fin out of tailored items or black dyed yarn balls, then stick a couple sharks in the water. :)

Thanks everyone for the great ideas! I'm getting an idea now of how I want it to look. I'll probably be posting screenshots to get more feedback from you all. Thanks again! :)

I can't wait to see what you do with your theme. I have a hard time with my single room in my castle with the shipwreck items. I have done and re-done countless times now. and it is essential that I have a mariner room. do to my past as a swash bucl'n fisherman :p

I've only had time to work on the roof so far and it's not yet complete. It's going pretty slow....

as we all learned from the tortoise and the hare, slow and steady wins the race :)

love the roof! now, is this castle open for viewing? I won't come to visit until you say "go", but I sure do want to see it!

It's looking great so far :) I haven't ever thought about a fishing room in my house, despite the fact that I do have a fisherman!

Thanks very much Faerunner. I'm adding some additonal pictures. One area that could use a lot of help is the tavern area. I'm undecided on how the fireplace turned out. I would rather use the hearth but it sticks through the upper floor and looks terrible.

Looks fantastic Shelley! The fireplace doesn't look bad but if you wanted to use the hearth of the home fire it looks like you could do one upstairs in the doorway and that would cover the chimney from the one below. Not sure how often you use that doorway but if you don't use it a lot it would be cute to have a fireplace there as well. To cover the chimney coming out of the roof you could the tall hedges. Those work really well for covering them in a outdoorsy area.

I think the fireplace looks pretty good but there's a lot of color going on in that room; it doesn't have much of a focal point with the rugs strewn all over. Maybe try changing out some of the red rugs and stick to blue and yellow/gold ones; it seems like that would compliment the room's current decorations. :) If you can't get heritage tokens you can always do the gargoyle rugs. They'd work really well for areas like behind the bar where they can be shaped to fit and dyed whatever color you like.
